yes, I've had one at the lazy river. it's great. the only way to do the pool IMO.

it used to be $550 but it was just an F&B minimum, so the cabana actually cost you nothing.

no idea if they've changed that with PGP.

Last time we had a cabana at MGM, we weren't even close to the F&B minimum, so we just ordered like 3 bottles of nice wine and had them sent to the room

I think we did that with vodka. We also managed to get them to bring us a beer pong table, which completely confused the other cabanas in our area.

One thing to bear in mind about the MGM cabanas is that there's a pretty wide disparity in quality. Cabanas 9-14, around the lazy river near the Wet Republic entrance, are great. I don't think those can be booked directly, though; last time I did it we had Cabana 12, and it was fantastic, but that had to be set up through the host offices. I think the same goes for 1-8, on the other side of the lazy river. On the other hand, my recollection is that the rest of them are basically tents set up along the pool areas.

Wow. That's not bad at all compared to the likes of Liquid, etc. But I suppose you're not getting the same party scene.

I dig the cabana scene at the pools. Just nonstop fun.

I just heard back from MGM on my request for Sunday, June 13th. They have tiers that go along w/ what you noted:

    Tier 1: $1,500 F&B min - (Cabanas 9-14 - Back River)
    Tier 2: $1,000 F&B min - (Cabanas 1-8 - Front River)
    Tier 3: $800 F&B min - (Cabanas 15-26 - Pool)

Is the consensus that Tier 1 and 2 are much better? I expect to spend at least $1,000 anyway so this seems to be the way to go.

If you are sure you'll hit $1000 why not go for the better tier. I did a downtown grand cabana and did $300 with 3 people. I'd expect it to be even easier to run up a tab at MGM. How many people are you going to have? Also don't forget the auto gratuity and tax on top of the min.
