Taking my 21 year old son to Vegas for his 21st Bday, first week in September. I have never stayed at the MGM, any tips tricks or must see/do's?

    Thanks!

Not sure about you, but I am sure he would enjoy Wet Republic and Hakkasan. It's hard to find 3:2 BJ other than the Mansion (high limit room) and Whiskey Down (mid level). Wolfgang Puck has late night menu until 6:00 AM. It's very large and disorienting - take a few minutes to study the map. Sigma Derby. You don't really want a room in the West Wing.

Not sure if it has changed but they had 3:2 at MGM last year in the pit outside of the HL slots. Either $25 or $50minimums depending on the time and day. Everywhere else other than whiskey down was 6:5 (didn't make it to mansion, out of my budget)

Yes, the pit near high limit slots still has some. Not may favorite pit - seems a bit disconnected from the rest of the casino for some reason. Some tables will be as low as $25 during the day, but nothing less than $50 min at night in that pit.

Thanks everyone, we are staying in the Tower, I will have to scout out good rules for BJ.

Sigma Derby? The horse race game?

Anyone know if there is $25 dollar Baccarat around?

    Thanks!

When you head out for the strip go through the West wing entrance where the tour buses pick up. It will save you lots of walking through the resort. Plus if you like Starbucks there is one there that doesn't get near as crowded as the main one. There is also a Grand Canyon store right there that sells liquor and has junk food and a Subway. Don't buy liquor or sodas etc at MGM. Huge markup.

I even just walk through the Grand Canyon store to save a few extra steps getting to the Strip

MGM is huge so take a few minutes to learn the lay of the land. Once you learn how to navigate you'll save time. I still sometimes get lost there after a ton of stays. Easy to walk a lot if you don't know the short cuts.

I second the Fat Tuesday suggestion- first thing I grab when I arrive. High Octane with extra shot does the trick.
Try their lazy river. Two bottled beers fit perfectly under the handles so you can float for a while.
We always try to eat at Pub 1842 (try their fried pickles) and Grand Wok. If you like sushi- order the Philadelphia rolls (stuffed with cream cheese).

If you're there on a comp, use the invited guest line to by-pass the hoards. We've also used the vip room to the left of the lobby but I think they recently changed it (gold may no longer work.)

Great suggestion on the Grand Canyon store. Much shorter walk to strip and they are less expensive than the gift shops. There's also a Subway inside.

We were there last year during NCAA. Had fun at the sports book. Managed to snag a table that's actually a flat screen. Had a hard time figuring out how to get it to work and people kept dumping their empty drinks and ash trays on our table. But still a good time.

    Good luck!

Any good booking tips for first timers? Booking via m life rewards appears best deal, but happy to be proved wrong.
