Twice lately, I've had major chains do weird things with my credit lines. I have about 100k at several, always paid off like normal, usually used 2 or 3x a year. I make sure to try to touch my line at each joint at least briefly once a year, since I was told they will close the line and force a re-app if I don't.

Last trip, I had one line shut down after I played, won, and then came back later on the trip and wanted to play on it again. They said they wanted me to "play my winnings first," which is fine if a little unreasonable for someone who might, um, not win with said winnings at other properties in between. :) But what got me was, I called back later to inquire about raising my CL, and the lady on the phone said, "well we need you to come in and re-verify your account and sign again." It was like calling them caused them to get up in arms and want me to do this.

I don't mind going in and "reverifying," but my "bank account" doesn't exactly have much cash in it, ever. I don't want to have my line reduced, nor do I want them pulling my credit over and over.

Then, I called another property to ask for an increase as well -- I've had this chore on my list of things to do for some time, and they don't seem eager to do it except as a TTO when you're on-property. And there I got basically the same runaround, what with the paperwork and the "stop by and see us when you arrive."

So is everybody else getting this, or am I just unlucky, or what?

Basically most places will only increase your line if you've lost the entire line a few times. Or play at a substantially higher theo relative to your line. It makes sense because they want to make sure you can consistently pay back entire line losses as well as "play" to your line.

Some places even want to lower your line if you don't "play" to it.

Yeah, what Nate said. None of this is unusual. If you are asking to increase your lines, but don't play to the line to start with, they do not have much incentive to increase the line just for the sake of increasing the line. Re-verifying happens all the time, especially if you frequent many casinos, but for a brief time period at each.

Making you play your winnings back first is also a common occurrence. Cosmo does this all the time.

Okay, thanks guys, it sounds like nothing special is going on. I am an AP and was concerned I might be seeing a form of adverse action since it was across multiple lines at the same time.

well that is a different part to the story. It could be you are labeled AP, and they may not want your action, or at least reduced action in the future

the main thing about the CL though is playing to the line you already have established. If you have 100k line, but never get to the 100k line when you are down, or don't generate the theo of a 100k line (if you are winning), then the casino sees no reason to extend based on your play patterns
