Just out of interest Guys, managed to find the 2012 Jordan Cab here in the U.K. For just 15 a bottle. Is the 2012 good enough to drink or is it worth buying a keeping at that price?

Bad week so far, this just finished itself! Magic!

Not a good wine but my wine delivery is at the post office awaiting collection.

This thread is interesting, particularly for discussions of the California wines.

But we don't always get a great variety of California wines up here (or if they come in, they are special ordered into the giant LCBOs in Toronto, and the in demand ones go quick).

Thinking I might take a couple pictures down the row of available Cali vintages at a local store to see if any of them jump out as a quality choice to the aficionados on here. I tend to dip my toe in the whole wine thing in general, so I won't be spending a bunch experimenting on my own.

For the most part, I have tended to Australian reds (Cabs and Shiraz), mostly because we good a good variety of them up here at less markup. I'm also going to be trying more of the local Ontario wines next year, but the region is more known for its Reislings, Chardonnays, and Pinot for red, and I tend to drink those less often, mostly because a lot of my wine consumption is with red meat.

Australian wines are a great value. Spain. South America. New Zealand. Italy. Hell, most anywhere but the Big Two.

We drink a good amount of Chardonnay and Pinot with meat. When you consider that Champagne is the "universal" wine, and that it is some combo of Chardonnay, PN and Pinot Meunier, let the wine profile and your tastes, not the color, dictate; OK, Pinot kinda sucks with bbq.

For reference, this is one I picked up this fall, and liked enough to go fetch a couple more bottles of:

Its priced here at about the max I'll consider for a bottle to try -- about $40 CDN.

10E a bottle and imported from France to keep the price reasonable. Enjoyed this tonight, bottle 4 of 6 I bought and will need to re-stock. I have a lot of French colleagues that can recommend good cheap wines!
