This has probably been covered many times, and I've usually been pretty good about it, but I wanted to share a quick story...

I had been playing baccarat in vegas for almost four hours and finally got up to get something to eat. I had been varying my bets between 100 and 250 the entire time. When I got up, I asked what my rating was and the pit boss guy says $75. I kinda flipped out a little and asked how my average bet could be $75 when I had not played a single hand under $100 and most around $150.

He said he just got there (which was true) and luckily, the dealer and the other person behind the tables jumped to my defense and told him to correct it to 150.

If I had been less curious or in a hurry or something, that would have put a serious damper on my rating for my trip. Lesson learned.

Also, Shifter in of the stickies suggested starting out with a big bet because that is sometimes the only time they pay attention. I definitely saw that in action a couple times this trip. Thanks, Shifter.

Just out of curiosity, where was this? Something very similar happened to me once playing craps at MGM, except he actually refused to change my rating. He said had me down at $75 for craps when I usually had around $150 on the layout (not counting odds), and even the dealers told him I had been betting far above $75, but he kept repeating that he just got there and that's what he put down, and if I had a problem I'd have to wait for the other guy to come back from his break in an hour. Needless to say, I don't really play craps at MGM anymore.

yeah, I've also encountered some real tools like that.

won't take any initiative to do anything outside of the box to make a customer happy.

so I usually just end up getting shafted and living with it because I'm not going to wait around for the guy to come back.

The craps atmosphere at MGM is awesome....the ratings suck...same as everyone else that posted.
MB on the other hand....very generous with the ratings.

This was at Palazzo, who always treat me nice. I was definitely not surprised they made it right.

It has happened to me quite a few times and unfortunately I don't usually remember to ask when
    leaving the table.
Is it crazy to think it is part of some corporate initiative or PGP to under rate players if they can?
I asked my host about it last year and he said no but when you get an occasional lowball that is half your avg. bet you have to wonder.

Eh, I almost always get rated somewhat, or quite a bit, above my average bet at Aria and Mandalay Bay. I think it's just bad luck in terms of catching a bad pit boss.

Thanks to shifter and a bunch of other guys here, I've also learned to check my rating after each session. Out of Mirage, MGM, and Cosmo, the Mirage has been by far the best with ratings.

The three pit bosses I usually play with not only gave me good and fair numbers, but they also discussed with me on if I felt the avg they gave me made sense. Really liked how they roll and enjoyed playing in their pits. Specially I'm talking about HL BJ, the BJ pit just outside of HL room, and craps. One pit boss named Bobby was by far the best, he had been there almost since Mirage's grand opening back in 89'.
