I don't have a problem with non-gambling/non-Vegas posts -- obviously from how I've posted the last X years. I love good humor. The insider jokes/needles are inevitable anywhere, not just here. I'm a low-roller in the casino but have extremely diverse interests and tastes in food and beverage, travel, other pursuits. Time will provide the breadth of posts needed.

At an administrative level this place is settling in. There was no way anarchy was going to work. But hopefully when someone writes "fuck" or slips in a political comment or renders a reasoned opinion as to why some sacred cow might simply need to be put to the needle, no one will feel like their grandma has been personally assaulted and won't go running to the PC Protectors.

I think that latter bit really is what this place was to be about.

Excellent synopsis. Considering the young age of this board, things are looking good. Knucklehead traffic increased for a minute, but situation normal has returned.

 

To make a baseball analogy. My belief is this is a major league type Vegas board. The other boards more like single A to double AA. Many of the minor leaguers are lurkers, but don"t have major league homerun power, so they just rate the posts and enjoy the threads from the bench. Yes this diminishes the posts, but still a good board.

 

I think that one or two posters had a primary motive to be disruptive. When you look at their posts they only contributed to a few threads - usually insulting and baiting other posters. They contributed no Vegas experiences or info. I enjoy the trip reports on all three boards.

Sometimes it does feel like you have to test the waters in here. You don't want to say the wrong thing or ask a stupid question and be attacked by rabid jackal. Maybe there needs to be a separate thread area - Vegas for dummies or Vegas 101- for those just discovering Vegas. I can see where people would feel this is a board for the Vegas Elite. There have certainly been enough comments about the other board being for grandma and coupons., birds, gardens etc. Which pretty much sums me up.

One thing I like about this board is the joking around and "funnyisms" - guess that's not a real word. Sometimes you need a good laugh.

 

I will always post my stupid questions and low roller adventures here because if I get one answer it's better than the 12 I might get elsewhere. Boo hoo people are mean. Some people are crazy. It's the Internet.

I sort of figured it was because of the accuracy of the information you get here. No chaff to filter through for the most part. I'm in the minors but still have dramatically improved my enjoyment of Vegas as a direct result of this place (and most of the people here on the other place before moving here).

Edit to add....I think the rating, and the likes/agrees actual help drop all the +1, yeah what he said, and other stuff. Its what I don't like when reading forums for information and enjoy that feature tremendously.

 

Respectfully disagree, dream. This should not be a major/minor league thing, and message boards should not be about promotion and relegation. Vegas is awesome, and we should all get to talk about it as equals. Obviously we won't all have the same opinions on who the best bartenders are at the Mansion, or whether Le Cirque or Picasso is better (sorry shifter, I prefer Picasso!), or whether the scotch selection at the Mirage high limit room is up to standards, but this should be about Vegas first and foremost.
