No, i honestly meant I was just learning the game and trying to understand the iron cross etc. I saw ppl putting money on the field which covers alot of numbers in a roll (2 numbers pay 2/3x) and i always do 6/8 and both hardways since thats what my friends do when i watch. BS and shifter were teachin me the ropes. I think the field is a good bet since it has so many numbers covered on the roll but im most likely wrong.

Playing the field vs playing the pass/don't/come with full odds is roughly equivalent to the difference between playing 6:5 blackjack and 3:2. We have never played together, but I'm willing to bet that you wouldn't be caught dead putting thousands of dollars into action on a 6:5 blackjack game. That is effectively what you are choosing when you bet the field.

But it can be a lot of fun to play. Because...Vegas

 

You are correct and i would never. I just thought the field is a good prop bet because of how many numbers you had to win on a single roll. Again, too much going on for me and too many options. Will mess around playing with friends but will stick to bj and bacc lol.

It was fun playing with everyone though.

 

I understand your point and math completely fish; but if we are acting rationally based upon the math then why play a negative expectation game at all? For most craps players they like the action of betting some hardways and an occasional place bet or two. I understand the optimal strategy is to play don't pass and don't come bets with full odds, but how many players do you actually see doing that and have fun?

I don't mind spending an extra dollar or two per hundred dollars bet to be able to play whatever game I want in the casino.

If I wanted the lowest HA in the casino I would be sitting playing VP all day.

For me I see Vegas as an entertainment destination so don't mind spending a little extra for the freedom...

 

Certainly everyone has their own gambling habits , my mom loves her penny slots ....

 

I used to love pennies as well until I realized they have a really high house advantage and a max bet at penny slots most oftentimes is equivalent to a max bet at quarter and some dollar slots which have a much lower house advantage.

But, we still tend to play the machines we enjoy. Go figure.

 

When did craps start paying 3x for a12 hitting on a field bet? I always remember it paying x2. Are we paying for it elsewhere ?
