    Trips to Vegas:
    11
So I am in no way a high roller. My husband and I go a couple of times a year and I enjoy Vegas more than he does. I changed my hotel 3 times before our trip - MGM-to Bellagio and ended up at TI. It has been a few years since we stayed there and I forgot how nice it really is even if it gets a bad rap. I didn't get a free night but the rate was very cheap and no resort fees. I posted this on another board if it looks familiar.

Went to Vegas for quick 3 night trip. Started with our drive to Austin for a direct on Southwest. Leaving around 8:30 pm and getting in around 9:30 pm. We leave our little burg - Fredericksburg, Texas. My husband has a big ass F250 King Ranch pickup with all the bells and whistles on it including heated and cooled leather seats, and a big ass grill guard, but we always take my POS little Mitsubishi Outlander. He says he doesn’t like to leave the pickup overnight. Half of the parking lot at the airport is full with pickups -- ½ the people in Texas drive pickups -- even ½ of the women. I think he doesn’t want anyone to ding the doors of pretty pickup. We start out early because the weather has been unpredictable and Austin traffic is also chaotic. We had just left the city limits heading out on a 4 lane undivided Highwy - US 290, and some idiot on a Harley (my husband used to ride a Harley - so we are not motorcycle haters) -- speeds around us to cut right back in front of us and slow wayyyyy down. We are getting close to the turn off for wonderful Luckenbach, Texas (I actually don’t care for the place) so we figure he had to speed up and cut over just to turn right. We get past the light my husband had changed back to the left lane to get around the line of turners. He was easing back into the right hand lane and i look in my mirror and the asshole/idiot on the Harley is closing fast -- very fast and I told my husband to watch it. He nearly clipped the asshole. I start banging on my window and call him a few choice words, my husband honks the horn, and the asshole gives us the international symbol of peace in return -- the middle finger. --- As he passes I tell my husband if we see him taking a dirt nap along the way just keep on going don’t stop -- That’s right and I meant it. No way was I going to let this asshole ruin my trip. But he speeds off into the horizon. We make our way 55 miles up the road on our way to the airport. We have to travel through Dripping Springs, Texas - population around 1800 -- and every one of them is out on the town square on US 290 -- They had their Founder’s day festival going on. Traffic was at a stand still people jaywalking, stumbling, and dodging traffic on the highway -- lugging coolers and kids with them -- all over the place-- cars turning everywhere -- what the hell?? And then what in front of my wondering eyes appears -- the ASSHOLE on the Harley he was back behind us - he probably stopped at a methlab in Stonewall or Johnson City. We are in the left hand lane and he is in the right. He then pulls between both lanes of cars -- I took a picture -- you can see him he looks like he is in the right lane but he is actually between the lanes -- where is a cop??? Again I repeat to my husband my position stands - drive past his cold lifeless body if need be. But that was the last we saw of him alive or dead. The rest of the night and flight was uneventful.

We got to the airport in plenty of time. Printed of our boarding passes at the kiosk we didn’t have any checked luggage. My husband got TSA pre check -- I don’t understand that one -- I even told him if anyone should be flagged for the pat down and body cavity search it should be him. We did not eat and I went and ordered Scholtzky’s -- which is our favorite sandwiches -- but the Airport doesn’t quite get them right. They didn’t have anyone taking orders. I’m the computer savvy out of the two of us -- and that is saying much, so I placed our order. Although somehow I kept on deleting my order before I was successful. Had I let my husband try to do this I am sure he would have lost his TSA precheck status. We should have ordered just one but we packed our leftovers for a late night snack. We got to the Vegas airport took the Gray Line shuttle to TI I had prepaid for roundtrip shuttle - I am just tired of the Taxi longhauls and didn’t want to bother with Lyft or Uber. -- I was a little irritated that they kept waiting for more people before we left - and had to wait about 30 minutes to depart - but we did arrive 15 minutes early. The driver was nice and it was nice to drive around the back way - he stopped at

first. We checked in with no problem. $59,$55, and $55 for Sun,Mon, Tues night. No resort fees, got a beautiful strip veiw room with no extra fee. Quiet neighbors and quiet floor. We may be ditching MGM for TI now. We headed to CVS - right on property -- it is kind of small and they do not have the liquor selection that the bigger Walgreens has - but it is very convenient. I picked up Malibu Cocconut Rum and my husband got a bottle of Crown -- he wanted Tito’s but they were all out. We had a drink and ate the ½ of the sandwich. We went back to the casino to gamble a little. My husband found his favorite at that time Fred Flinstone. He lost $40 on it. I was even on VP. He went to bed around midnight and I stayed down and gambled for about another hour. I won about $40 on Fred on the first spin. I then went to I dream of Jeannie and played for about 4 spins and won about $60. I then went to the Breeze Bar and got ignored by the bartender. I was down about $40 bucks then I got a 4OAK on tens so I cashed out and gave him the evil ojo and went to bed around 1:00 am. I slept in until 10 AM and then had to run to CVS -- no hairbrush -- 2nd trip in a row I have done that. By the time my husband drug his ass out of bed and we got over to

to use a Myvegas 2 for 1 buffet we missed the breakfast food. The food was okay - not great. I had prime rib, mexican rice, chips, guacamole, and a few pastries. My husband had about the same but he found eggs benedict. We also had a myvegas 2 for 1 Carnagie deli that we had them put on the card and would use later that night. Back over to TI -- I never felt that we were far away at TI -- the tram to Mirage and walk across the overpass to the Wynn and to the

    - very easy. I stayed down and played a little and had a $60 or so win on Ultra stack Dragons and had some nice wins of the Ultimate X 5 play VP at 5 cents. I didn’t have any 4 oaks or royals etc but had enough full houses and straights and flushes to get frequent 12, 11 or 7 multipliers.

So for my husband’s birthday he wanted to go to the

so we could spin the wheel for the free play on his birthday. He got a whopping $5 free play and didn’t win anything on Reel em In. I lost about $20 on VP. Then we went to a bar in the casino -- Centra I think it was. My husband likes to sit back in a lounge/bar and just enjoy a drink or two. I had a Pomegranite martini drink and it was good and he had his Crown and Coke. We then went back to Excalibur and played a little there but neither of won anything and we headed downstairs to get in line for the show. The food was okay - a semi dry cornish hen, potatoes, roll, and broccoli, mini apple pie and a pretty decent tomato soup to start things off. I wouldn’t pay for it - but we got them free via Myvegas. I must say that the King of Hungary was hot -- I mean really hot - which is maybe why I enjoyed it more this time. After the show we played a little at Excalibur again but no real wins. We walked back to TI through

    - stopped at the pub. I had Deep Eddy Ruby Red with cranberry juice and the hubby had Crown and Coke and a double shot of Tito’s to follow. The Pub was not crowded and it was nice to sit and relax. We then got on the monorail to Bellagio -- holy crap - was it crowded -- we were going to play and I said lets just get back. We stopped at Mirage and ordered our 2 for 1. We were both kind of hungry. - because we didn’t eat much of the dry bird at the show. We both got clubs -- they cost about $25 a piece -- a little pricey for a sandwich even if it is big. With the 2 for 1 they give you a $25 credit on your bill. We ate about ½ each and then got boxes to go. We got back to the room my husband did not want to gamble so he watched TV -- right now he is mesmerized the the National Geographic Channel -- especially shows about living off the grid. I went back to the casino went to the Breeze Bar and found a nice woman bartender to wait on me. I really thought I had lost money but I still had my original $100 that I took out yesterday -- so I was even -- and that was after paying tips and the taxi -- I had a $100 mlife gift card I had used for the buffet, the bar at Luxor and the Pub. -- So far I was doing good.

Day # 2 -- since we missed breakfast at the

buffet but we also had $100 in food credit at TI I had purchased before we left -- for $80. So we did room service. I was really wanting pancakes -- we ordered the pancake tower 4 pancakes , two eggs, bacon and sausage - and I ordered a side of hash browns and a pot of coffee. $19.99, $6.50, and $9.50 for a pot of coffee and $9 room service fee. It was pretty good - except the sausage -- it was not Jimmy Dean --(enough said) It was nice to to take our time. The next day was our show at

    - Vegas the Show. I went down and played a little tried Fred and Jeannie again and nothing took my money- I hit the VP machines again jumped around from Deuces Wild to JB -- I figured I was down my husband was taking his time getting ready and watching more National Geographic -- I count my money -- I am still even right around $100 -- I had not had to get in my wallet for more. I had one bigger win on one of our favorites Reel Em in, I was betting $3 a spin max and hit. I qualified for the progressive and the big fish was over $800 but I got two smaller an $88 one and a $26 one. I cashed out and went to the room to gloat. We went next door to see the Secret Garden at Mirage -- it was neat seeing the big cats -- we went a few years ago -- I think they still have the same leopard -- he just paces -- maybe the should rethink keeping him there. I am sure they have a lot more space than what we see -- that is only for when they are out to be seen by the public. Also we watched a dolphin training session -- I got to see a dolphin pee in a cup -- up close and personal. They did chose people to help feed the dolphins and got right up with the trainers. I think that you have to talk to the trainers before hand. I would suggest that if someone wants their kid to participate you go ask the trainers how you can participate. After our stroll in the Garden we went back to TI. Refreshed and then ate a late lunch at Senor Frogs -- I had a living social coupon for $40 that cost me about $14.50 - we both got cheeseburgers and FF and ice tea -- I owed $6 total plus the tip. We then walked to PH for Vegas the show - I had purchased

via Living Social for $40 for two people and upgraded to VIP and two drinks in commemorative cups for an additional $66 total. We got our tickets then went back to PH where I lost $60 quickly on various slots and VP. I liked the show but the way they organize before the show is a cluster f****. One bartender and everyone trying to get drinks at once. I would not have bothered if I had not prepaid. I had a crappy frozen margarita and the husband had a Crown Apple with cranberry juice - which is what I should have ordered. We get our drinks and head up the stairs and then end up going back down stairs to the auditorium -- which is pretty small -- there are people in our seats. I head back to the ticket girl and tell her. It was an elderly oriental couple with a middle aged woman (guessing their daughter) they showed up for the 7pm show when they had tickets for 9:30 they were quickly whisked away. I felt horrible -- I hope they got different seats but I did not see what happened to them. Once the show started it was a good show. Worth $20 a piece but not $40 a piece for VIP. After the show we cabbed to the Wynn because my husband was sure that he could find his magical Fred Flinstone -- some lady was playing at the one next to him. I should have videoed her -- she was grabbing at the screen, touching picking swirling around. It creeped my hubby out -- but she was winning bonus after bonus. I can't remember what I played nothing memorable and I had to start in on my next $100 bill -- damn it I thought the first one would last forever. My last machine I played I saw one called the Red Phoenix -- my grandson's middle name is Phoenix (why you ask?? because both of his parents were born in California -- again enough said) Originally they were going to name him Cloud - as his first name-- I really had to bite my tongue and I waited for a couple of months before I beseeched my son not to name him Cloud -- thankfully they dropped the Cloud. Anywho the RedPhoenix hit on my first spin for about $40 - so I took that and cashed out. Found my husband who moved around to another Flinstone machine because of the creepy woman and her witchcraft moves -- but Fred took his money and he wanted to go back and get started on his crown and his National Geographic Channel. We also had leftover Carnagie deli sandwiches in the fridge and at TI you have a mini fridge to use and no mini-bar - so you don't have to worry about accidentally tipping over the pringles on top. I spent some more time on VP and the slots. I was back almost even again --

I forgot that my husband did go down to the casino after he recharged on Crown. I was playing ultimate X vp and having some wins - not great but keeping me alive. He insists I find him over at his new found love - Austin Powers- he told me I have to come play that he hit bonus after bonus several times -- I am waiting for a Margarita and the waitress never comes back. I find him and sit down next to him to play Austin Powers -- apparently I was the bonus killer because I never hit a one and his dried up. I tried Game of Thrones and won one bonus on the second or third spin but put it all back and never won anything more. We got to bed around 1:30.

My last day. We still had some $$ for food on our room charge - so we did room service again it was around 10 AM when I ordered. This time an all American breakfast, eggs, bacon, toast and hash browns, plus an extra side of hash browns, coffee and orange juice. We just sat in front of the window enjoying the view. After breakfast I went downstairs and played. First I hit the Ultimate X vp -- I was close to a royal on this one. You can see that my bottom row of hold cards I held the Jack and Queen of spades, and then drew the King, and Ace - but then 7 of clubs it was a 12 multiplier too -- crap!!!!but a few hands later I had 12X again on all 5 hands and on two of them I drew straights. I was up some so I went to the Breeze Bar again and put my money in and ordered a Margarita -- the bartender put a bill in glass in front of me for $10 for a margarita. I was going to ask him if my drinks was comped. I was playing max bet on .25 cents and I lost at least $30 right off the bat and then came the semi royal. I was playing deuces wild and it a royal with two deuces -- so it is a Royal but not really.

I left a tip but did not pay for the margarita -- I figured if hotel security chased me down I would pay for it.

I forgot to mention that the night before we asked about a late checkout. When I made the reservations I was told that depending on our play we might not have to pay for the late check out - which was $30. The young man at the desk told us that invited guests do not have to pay for early check in or late check out. He gave us a 3pm check out time. After we played some at TI and went back upstairs and just took our time packing etc. We checked out about 2:30 pm. For all 3 nights I owed a little over $200 and that was because we had some extra charges to our room. I really enjoyed this stay at TI -- we will probably pick them again if we get a decent offer. After we checked out we put our bags in at the valet/bell hop and went over to the

-- I love this casino if anything just for how bright and clean and almost smoke free atmosphere. I dropped some money here. I did find a machine called Dragon Spin -- I hit a decent bonus for around $80 and my husband sat down right after me and got another $30. There are four seats and you sit around in a circle -- everyone was hitting bonuses except one woman. Another grabber and hand action on the screen to try and pull in those bonuses -- it didn't work for her. We went back over to TI and had drinks at the mojito bar and then went to wait for our shuttle. Next time I probably will do Lyft -- I saw the area where the pick up at TI. I saw several cars and they were sparkling clean. The shuttle was a little late - about 15 minutes but the driver was so nice. We were waiting on the benches on a street between TI and

and it was very nice with the breeze - so not a bad wait. After we got to the airport and printed passes my husband got the TSA precheck again -- WTF -- how does the guy who is on every Guns and Ammo, Shotgun News, and you will have to pry my cold dead hand off my gun - mailing list keep getting TSA precheck??? And I get the pat down. I forgot to mention that Austin changed the position you stand in for the peepshow/radiation check point. It used to be you put your hands in the air but elbows bent. Now they make you reach for the sky. Way up I literally got a cramp in my back reaching for the stars --- the whole time they lady is saying higher, higher -- how the f*** can I get higher??? And I still got a frontal pat down.

My complaint about LV TSA screeing is they had one guy checking id's and boarding passes. Austin is smaller and they had at least 3 guys/girls manning the checks for ids and passes and several lines open for shoes and radiation exposure. LV even had their TSA precheck line closed. When my husband went though he didn't have to remove his shoes etc. But for some reason his leather hiking shoes set of the alarm and he had to remove his shoes. --HAHA-

So there it is my semi royal. But had a fun and relaxing time all in one. We probably won't be back until January. We plan on taking our grandson - Soars with Clouds (aka Connor) on a trip to the west to include Fort Sumner where Billy the Kid is buried, and a train trip on the Durango/Silverton train and see some Indian dwellings. Maybe TI will give me an offer we can't refuse before January.

I will follow up with some pics of my quasi royal and the view from our room and various other pics.

Nice report! I like TI these days. Senor Frog, not so much. Haven't tried the room service yet.

Only reason for Senor Frogs was I knew not to go after the party started because you will never get waited on. And $14.50 for $40 worth of food. The burgers were good not great but it was total of $27 all in with tip and Living social voucher. Room service was good -- I could have had just toast and hash browns- pretty much my favorite breakfast. And loved TI since my first $100 lasted at least 2 days.
