So many people want to know how you get comps at the casino.

It's really quite simple - you gamble. The more you're gambling, the more you will get.

What gets you comps is a measurement in the casino computers - called different things like theo, ADT, coin in, etc.

Bottom line is: how much money do you put at risk each day?

Depending on the game you play, that can be different. For example, they give more for $1,000 bet on slots than $1,000 bet on roulette, which is more than a $1,000 bet on blackjack. But in the end, it still comes down to the amount of money you bet or play each day.

It doesn't matter how much money you bring to the casino or how much is in your bank account.
It doesn't matter how often you've been there or if your parents got married there 50 years ago.
It doesn't matter if it's your birthday or your anniversary or your honeymoon.
It doesn't matter if you're the second cousin's brother's uncle of the maƮtre 'd at the restaurant.
And it especially doesn't matter how much you "promise" to spend.

How much did you actually put at risk that trip?

Once they have that number, it is simple equation. They don't give you 100% of the play you give them. That would be silly. They give you between 30% and 40% of what you gave them.

If you are spending $50,000 or more in a trip, then you start to get into a different realm, which we address in another thread. Check out

And it absolutely varies from casino to casino. Higher end strip casinos give you less for the same action than an off strip locals' joint.
