everybody is always wondering if they're going to get the room/suite they want when they actually show up or will they get bumped down - downgraded?

this is actually a pretty simple situation.

on holiday weekends or other busy weekends, all the more desirable suites go to what's called the "suite committee".

this is an actual group of people who meet on Tuesday of that week and look at a list of request for rooms and determine who gets the room they want and who gets bumped out.

one of the main factors they look at is your biggest trip loss in the last 12 months.

this is exactly what happened to me on the absolute biggest weekend in the history of Vegas: Mayweather vs Pacquiao. I had just dumped $224k the previous month. the next guy on the list had dumped $219k. I was the last one to get a 1BR Skyloft and the other guy was downgraded to a Terrace suite. true story.

at the lower levels, this also comes down to the size of your credit line. if you have a 50k line - and play to it - the guy with the 30k CL is going to get bumped before you every time.

one way people try to game this system is by showing up early - they normally can't kick you out of your suite/villa. if you show up the weekend before and decide to stay through this big event, it's very hard for them to kick you out.

however, I will say, if it's a big enough player who's coming into your place, you're going to get kicked out regardless.

For those of us being comped more normal rooms. When we come in does coming in early/late effect the room we are given. I have to assume yes. Just this past weekend I was a late arrival at a casino and ended up with a jacked up room. Luckily I was relocated the next morning but still annoying. Do late arrivals always get the bottom of the barrel?

yes, unless a host personally blocks a specific room for you, you're going to get what's left over.

So let's pretend the villa has an internal rate of 2000 a night, would they or do they or better yet can you get up front a casino rate for these?

most of them do have a retail price that they allow non-players to book, but only certain times like mid-week and off-weekends.

but that rate is exorbitantly higher than the comp rate. e.g. the 1BR Mansion is 5k when it comps at $1250 and the 2BR is 10k when it comps at $2500.

I don't think they have any kind of special casino rate though. if you're paying, you're paying full freight.

Yeah, most of the nicest suites (Skylofts / mansion) are not available for casino rate on the busiest weekends. The suite committee has a hard enough time getting all their biggest players into the rooms they expect on these weekends without having rooms blocked off on casino rate promotions. I have heard several stories where million dollar players ended up in a 2 bd Marquee suite on a busy weekend as they either showed up late, or there were just that many larger players in town at the same time

I always ask for 1 of 2 different specific rooms. Even though my host blocks the room, I have had the room given away when I have arrived late. Even though the room was blocked, someone at the front desk had given it away to appease another guest.
