Well? Is it based on a winning or losing trip? On how many days you stay? TIA

I tip based on my trip.

good trip I tip 1-2% of my win.

    bad trip, nothing.

Mine doesn't really book more than what I get via my offer. She usually upgrades me to fountain view and also books my gf's offers back to back to mine so that we are able to combine room comps

I've tipped once, it was cash in a thank you card. I really haven't had a lot of service beyond the bare minimum.

    Usually $500.

My question is how much are you supposed to tip the butlers at the end of a trip. Last 2 trips I left $500 in an envelope for them at the Skyloft desk and gave main one $100 on the second day. I know they get the auto gratiuity per order but I would like to know if I'm doing it wrong or if what I did is the norm.

I think you were plenty generous. I usually do $100 to the one who greets me, which is usually the same one I have each trip and request, and then another tip for steaming all my clothes, and then usually $100 day after that. So out $300- $400 for a weekend trip. I'm not too demanding, so they have it pretty easy with me. I think they would love the tip you left

I use a fixed range now between 500-5000.

500 is obviously a losing trip with bad service. 5000 big win trip with good service.

IMO you tip the butlers too much and the host not enough.

my reasoning is tip the people better who can do something for you so at least you're getting your money's worth.

the butler is happy with $20, maybe $40 or $60 if they do a bunch. throw them $100 and you're king. but more than that and what do you really get for your money? I also prefer to tip the butler up front for that reason. they're more likely to go above and beyond when they already know they've got the tip. if you wait till the end, they're figuring they'll probably get stiffed like most people do.

the host on the other hand has a lot of discretion and keeping him happy with you can open doors. so take that $1100 you are going to spend and give him $1k and the butler $100 and you're much better off.

same reason I stopped tipping black chips at the tables. I would go on a winning tear and end up tipping 10-15k over a weekend. over half of that is money directly out of my pocket. or I'd have a couple k in smaller chips at the end of a nice winning session and I'd throw them to the dealers.

for what? the dealers are happy when you throw them $100 at the end of a session. throw them $500 on a big winning session and they love you. so there's no benefit. so now I take my left over chips that I would have given to the dealers and save them for my host. same money out of pocket, but now I actually get value for that money.
