I'm curious how people budget for gambling.

Do you have a separate account just for gambling?

Do you set aside a set amount in the months leading up to a trip?

Do you withdraw money from your account when you decide to go to Vegas?

Personally, I have a separate wallet in which I keep all of my gambling money. When I win, it goes back in the wallet. Ideally, I am only pulling from this wallet for my gambling money and not adding extra money out of pocket. A $600 winning trip has sustained me fairly well so far *knock on wood*

For Vegas we put everything on a rewards cc, pay it off out of checking at the end of that month's cycle, gambling money comes from checking.

Separate savings account that I fund, probably to regularly with a set amount after savings and expenses are taken care of each month. It unfortunately, like Social Security, gets hit with non-gambling withdrawals but thankfully not as often as the government taps SS :stig:

I've worked two jobs for the last 20 years. Full-time job A pays for mortgage, bills, etc, and the leftover goes into savings/retirement. Part-time job B is for vacation/gambling/fun activities.

We have a good amount of discretionary income so we make the call just before the trip. Usually, the amount reflects my highest LOC.

We have one combined account that takes care of the bills and multiple separate accounts that gets auto deposits each paycheck as well as ad-hoc deposits. I have the account for gambling which takes care of the both of us since she gambles so little.

Lol I know many people that gamble with LOCs that they don't have the cash to cover .... Then sell stuff if they lose...

Budgeting for gambling is certainly not very degenerate :)

If hocking household items is your idea of a degenerate then I'm proud to be a boring ass person who makes sure the $ I take to lose isn't going to make me sell off a fucking TV or car. :)

Ahhh...I'm with ya now. I think there are different levels of degeneracy. Some are fucked up and sad. Some are funny to talk about. I believe most people on this board fall somewhere in the middle of that shit show lol. :)

Hope you win big on your current trip Nate.
