As the title noted, this really isn’t a trip report but more of an excuse to share some VP hits I had at Horseshoe in Baltimore last week.


I was in town for a work show and had to stay an extra day to meet some customer in Ashburn area. Headed out to meet them on Wednesday but as I was pulling by the building, I noticed show people striking… and completely missed the morning news that some of them had gone on strike. Now, everyone I was meeting with was doing strike duty and I had the afternoon off ….. so, what is an aspiring degenerate supposed to do … go back to the hotel and get some work done … or head to a casino. Well, I think you know what I did.


Took the hour + drive from Ashburn to Baltimore. Got there about 3pm. Walk around a little but wanted to play as I had dinner plans back in Reston at some point that evening, so quickly started looking for some DSTP 10 play machines. I could only find it in quarters which was fine as I was just planning on playing a little. Pay tables weren’t great but still better than MGM has at that same level.

Found a few machines outside of the poker room and played for a little while but only had one good hit and decided to move when I was down $500.

Walked around a little bit and found another bank of 8 All Star II machines and started back up. Definitely a better run but still wasn’t getting into the positive range ….

I was down about 1500 at this point and was there just over hour and half … I figured I would have plenty of time to get it back … at that point, I get a call from the people I was going to meet for dinner and they wanted to do it earlier than expected. I had to be back in Reston Town Center by 6:30, which means I need to be leaving Baltimore by 5 if I had any chance to make it.. it was almost 5 but I wasn’t ready to leave, so played some more and just then, I hit the following. While I was happy to have the win, I was a little annoyed that it was just over 1200 and it was going to take some time to pay me.

Finally got paid and played a couple more hands and left around 5:30 and down about $500. I was at about 1500 TC and this would bug me as I was past 1000 but not yet to 2500. (it’s a CET thing)

 

As expected, I didn’t make town center by 6:30 but they were running late also. Got there about 10 til 7pm … had a great dinner and many drinks after at the bar. We wrapped up just before midnight. Now, while I had been drinking throughout, I didn’t feel drunk and definitely wasn’t tired. Once again, what is a want-a-be degenerate supposed to do … I got in the car, waited what felt like forever but was only a few minutes and decided to go back … drove the hour back to Baltimore and got there just about 1am. My logic being, I could still get in 2-3 hours of play before I had to drive back to Herndon to get my stuff and head to the airport (DCA). The more I look back on this, I had some terrible planning on my part but then again, none of it was really planned.


I started but not hitting anything real big but enough to keep me playing ….
