so when MGM first launched their new Mlife player's club, there was no limit on express comps. everybody earned them and you earned them at an astounding rate of 13% of theoretical win. for bigger players, it was the best thing since sliced bread. your host would still take care of everything on your primary comps and you would save up these other comps to use later.

get that nice bottle of wine, get an extra suite for a friend, throw a big party. I saved up about 17k over the first year and then threw a huge birthday party bash for all my friends. I hardly gambled at all the whole weekend (but still managed to win 55k in hit and run sessions, lol) and had a blast blowing comps and partying it up. I heard a story about one guy that had 100k in ECs went into JR and bought an entire case of expensive wines. the bosses flipped their lid when they heard that.

then they change it and cut it in half so you only earn about 6% of theo. still OK, but much slower to earn.

then it comes down that they are going to limit how many you can bank. 10k for Noir, 5k for Platinum.

then they start saying that they're going to cut you off from earning ECs forever if you receive any sort of airfare/discount on any trip. that was the point where I got cutoff. I blew the last ones I had on a bottle of wine and have been living without ECs for the past couple of years.

then they say that they're going to start taking ECs first before any primary comps in order to drain the accounts of people who already have them banked.

now the latest thing with their " profit growth plan" (PGP) is completely eliminating ECs from all table players.

so basically they're saying this program was a complete failure. they've continued to cut and cut it until now it hardly even exists anymore. slot players already got PointPlay for their play, now they still get ECs too, but that's basically the same thing.

they might as well ditch the entire EC program and just increase the PointPlay that you earn by whatever the EC number is these days.

Yep. Just finished using all my express comps this last trip as they stopped going up. I had over $1500 at one time. Used them up with spa treatments and extra food and beverage not covered. Though for me they went up a lot when I was playing $1 and $5 slots. But I've switched back to bj after hitting some jackpots when I realized my luck was probably up on the slots for how much I wanted to invest in them. Kind of how they got rid of promo chips and just hand out freeplay for slots. Just makes me less inclined to go gamble.

It's more likely that they cut both EC and leave PP the same. Somehow they'll spin this in the press as "more player friendly" or they'll just sweep it under the rug.

So what will happen if the PGP doesn't produce the stock returns that make Murren and his pals their multi-mil bonuses?
    Nothing good that's for sure.

they already moved on to PGP 2.0 this month.

even more extreme cutting at every level.

I think they're just going to continue to cut until they reach a point where they meet their goals.

then some time will go on and they will find new issues with where they are and come up with new goals.

then the process starts all over again back in the other direction.

I played a lot last trip using an MLife card for the first time to get some offers, go to login to my account and it isn't active, no idea what's gone wrong with it as I checked it with an MLife desk but I'm not going to continue to chase play with them if they can't get the basics right.

I was an aria comped player and my host told me i would need to get 60k of coin in at V/P to keep getting my free rooms.
I decided they don't need the middle rung gambler and moved over to cosmo where they don't make me play as much.

Are PP and EC coming out of the same pool? Never used either and I have the same amount in each.

They're different pools, but the rate at which you earn them might be the same now. I can see stockpiling ECs because it can be a challenge to use them if you're already RFB since they don't allow retail usage like Caesars properties does with their equivalent, but there's no excuse not to be burning PP because that converts to free play on the machines that you can either gamble with or simply run through a slot or VP machine and turn it into cash.
