For comps and good rules, D/golden gate has been better for a table game player in my experience than golden nugget. Not sure how they compare for a slots player.

I find it doesn't matter a ton where you stay rather where you play. For "good rules" Plenty of good BJ DT, can't beat the El Cortez. MSS still has the crown for best VP in my opinion.

Golden Nugget is standard DT, otherwise, TheD, Golden Gate, and Main Street Station are all solid choices.

This may sound a little crazy, but I'd take the room at the Mirage (although I always seem to drop a bankroll on their craps tables), and then for night or two go and book a room at the D or a casino that you feel you will want to play at. Maybe even approach a host during play to get a player rate on a room (or even a comp room if they like what you are playing at). No one says you can't have two rooms going at once !! I'd put it down to not bothering jumping in a cab back to the Mirage one night... That'll be a great way of testing out DT. I've never considered doing this. Maybe I will. I'm also going to be in Vegas for 2 weeks in April, and I may just take room DT just for the experience.

was just at the D for 4 days, and liked it. My room was quiet, but the casino is loud, by day 4 i was thumped out. The main flor of the D is impossible to chat with friends. The second floor Vue bar at the D is also fun, and a bit quieter if you like VP, need to talk with friends, and has Sigma Derby. I have nevered stayed at the Plaza and but found their casino and drink service a great retreat when gambling late night. They also had music, but talking while playing table games was effortless The golden gate is also fun and a tad quieter than the D casino.

    enjoy.

Love the vibe at the Golden Gate but the standard rooms are small and the bathrooms didn't get remodeled. I'm a low roller with low standards so idc much; I've heard their new suites are nice. I should give a stay at the D a try. The old Fitz was the place downtown I've said I would never stay in again ha but it sounds like the remodeled rooms are nice. You might think about trying a Cabana Suite at El Cortez too.

I used to always stay at the Palazzo, but moved downtown a few years ago, and always stay at the Nugget now. Love the place, and also love how close together things are downtown.

That said, I'm only doing the first 2 weeks of my trip there this year, and then trying The D, for the last 10 nights :)

Exactly. I just did 9 nights and I thought I was going to die. And I thought I paced myself.
