I've only been once but had fun playing craps there...even though I got my butt kicked. I was there for work and couldn't really cut loose but it got very crowded and hard to get a spot.

 

Please post your thoughts on restaurants you go to. I'll be in NO on April 9. I'd like to find a good brunch spot. I was there Dec 2015, but it was a rushed trip.

 

Plenty of good places to eat in the immediate vicinity. Couchon or Couchon Butcher. Get a mufaletta at Central Grocery or take a cab up to Parkway to get a poboy, I recommend shrimp or surf & turf. If you want to hit some more local bars and get away from the silliness that is the quarter head to Magazine Street and go to some of the warehouse district bars.

Never thought to order it without. You'd have to ask. The olive spread is kind of the spirit of the sandwich but that doesn't mean they won't try to accommodate.

Cafe Adelaide is right across from the Harrahs hotel. They have a decent brunch. I've heard good things about Ruby Slipper Cafe though i always see a long line so I'm not sure about the wait. For a good burger I suggest Port of Call, it's on the opposite side of the quarter from Harrahs. Walkable though.

And last, don't fall for the "I bet I know where you got dem shoes!?"

 

Lafitte's Blacksmith Shoppe, Carousel Bar if you want to feel fancy and get the official state cocktail, the sazarac or even a Pimms.

If you want to party "after hours" go to the Gold Mine. It didn't get hopping until about 2am. Their flaming dr peppers will mess you up!

You party at gold mine until 5:30 or 6a then stumble to breakfast at cafe du monde or maybe ruby slipper or head uptown to Avenue Pub for the happy hour that starts around 7a I think.

 

Couchon is so good. It was one of the few places that had boudin in NOLA. We also ended up going to the place next door to Du Monde to avoid the cluster fuck of tourists and it was just as good if not better.

 

Plenty of places have boudin, it's just usually you don't get it in a restaurant. It's more of a meat market, gas station type of thing.

 

Yeah definitely, I meant at a restaurant. We went to Bergeron's in Shreveport and stocked up on the way home, so good.
