I usually only go to Tahoe in the winter for Skiing, but there are some things to putz around in Tahoe City. Plenty of bars around.
Not sure what you like to do or age range to recommend where to go drinking.

Dinning in South Lake Tahoe is not that great IMHO, but one standout is Edgewood Restaurant, beautiful views and great food.
Chart House has good food, but they are a Landry's chain. North Lake Tahoe has the better dining options but is a bit of a drive.
Christy Hill in Tahoe City is really nice with a great view of Lake Tahoe since your elevated. Slightly pricey IMHO for the menu, but the food is excellent.

it's gotta be quicker just to get to Vegas.
