here's some photos of some of our hikes through the National parks (at least the ones in California)

These are from Kings Canyon National park on our hike in 2011. We do an annual 50-75 mile hike over 7 days or so. A lot of this type of scenery you just don't get to see unless you are in the back country.

these are from either 2009 or 2010. we were hiking over Kearsarge Pass in the Sierras in May. This was one of those years where the Sierras had a late snow season. I think Mammoth Mountain ski area was opened through July 4th weekend that year. You can see from the different years how much my son has grown over these trips. Now he is like a bean pole - 6"1", 130 lbs, lol

from our 2012 long term hike. Since we had a small group of only 5 of us, this was both our fastest, and longest hike. We did 73 miles in 4 hiking days (5 days total as we spend the first night at elevation getting acclimated so no altitude sickness), not counting elevation gains over the passes. This hike went through both the Sierra National park as well as parts of Kings Canyon National park. We started just out of Bishop, and ended near Mammoth. This hike also covered a lot of the John Muir trail - he was the first person (in the early 1900's) to hike this area and map the trails and develop the trail system as it is today through this part of the Sierras. The first set of photos is from our first day of hiking.
