Over the last couple years I have had some trouble finding and keeping a reliable book. I've gone through two local guys and played on Bovada. I dumped the first guy after the Patriots v Seahawks SB because he wouldn't take my increased action. I wanted to double my limit for the final bet of the year and he wouldn't do it. Then I moved on to Bovada. I don't like how they play with the lines so much. Not only do they move things, but the move the big around too. I found another local guy, but he flaked out during the NBA season. Something about him being owed a lot. He owes me about 1,500. I haven't heard from him in months.

So here we are 4 weeks away from the start of the NFL season and I need to get things figured out. Any favorite online sites? Easy funding options? I do have some feelers out for local guys and hope to go that route, but if I can't I need a back up option.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

five dimes is supposed to be good. with most of them you have the problem of if you win too much, you either get your action limited, or you have cash out problems

I use Bovada and love it. Usually they have the best lines for the bets I want to make. Too bad it doesn't work for you.

I hear 5 dimes is good but never tried it.

Bookmaker or 5dimes. Bovada is good if you play alot of underdogs since their lines on the faves are usually higher then anywhere else. Also they will limit your action if you are beating them.

Heritage is good but you need an invite to get in there with them.

If you are looking for a good "local" with a site, let me know but they dont offer anything near to what the big online books offer.

Tony (owner) at 5dimes is a pos. Sometimes easy to get money in but always a pain to get money out

That's the case with most of the online books. When I used Bovada years ago, I had an instance where I put in a W/D request which takes them up to 48 hours to review. Most of the time it would take around 24 hours. Well after I put in my request I made a round of bets which put me under my withdrawal by a small amount like $50. Within 5 minutes my withdrawal request was rejected for insufficient funds. Again the typical approval took 24 hours, but they just so happened to catch my account being under by $50 within 15 minutes that time? It wasn't a big deal I just reprocessed it, but I did a little searching and found out that they are constantly running software that looks for those so they can cancel your withdrawal request. I'm sure they catch a lot of guys donking off winnings in the casino and then cancel their request to keep the money in their account to continue the donking so they can get it all back.

Shortly after I found a local guy who I've used. With all the BS of getting funds into a Bovada and then knowing that they're always looking for a way to avoid making a payout, I decided it's better to just stick with my local. I'm a $100/game guy with an occasional $200-300 lock guy, so limiting my action isn't an issue. I also don't have to worry (as much) about the feds shutting down the site and freezing my funds like the poker sites.

I had a local guy for a long time. His format beat me. It was basically settle every week after Sunday night. Basically it was all psychological. The moment I was in the hole, I was searching for games to bet on to get back to even so I wouldn't have to pay. By Sunday, the bigger the hole, the more I had to bet to cover it and the less time I had to do so and therefore would take bigger chances.

So, when I won, I won much less than when I'd lose. We're talking few hundred dollar wins... $500-1k losses.

After the last big loss, I decided to bet online and found Bovada.

That's weird Unda - never heard of a Sunday night settle up. That's a huge pain in the ass especially during football season. Most locals around me are Tues or Wed settle ups.

Of course this comes with its own set of psychological fuckery. If you're down after NFL on Sunday, do you bet big on the Monday night game to get even? Since there's only one game left, do you parlay the team and O/U to really hit them hard?

It was a Monday settle up... so after Sunday night. But, yes... it was odd.

During football season it wasn't too bad. The real issue became baseball season and working the favorite on the moneyline to get back to even. When the favorites lose in baseball, depending on the size of the favorites, it hurts pretty bad. Especially when you're trying to work yourself back to even.

This shaped my betting style/strategy in three ways:
    1. I stopped betting baseball favorites with odds worse than -200
    2. I stopped betting baseball (unless I'm in Vegas)
    3. I stopped using my local guy in favor of an online sports books

Thankfully I got hooked up local. Was able to get set up so I could play that game down under last night! Hopefully this guy doesn't let me down. Seems to be the real deal been in the biz for a long time. Last two local guys were younger and maybe got in over their heads. Thanks for your suggestions.
