Coyote was beautiful. My game is not. Could not get off the tee without a penalty stroke. By the end of the round I was just bombing the driver because my 'safe' clubs cost me so many strokes. Scratched together a 98. But I am thinking I need a fall Vegas golf trip someday so I can get revenge when I have some semblance of a game.

On the bright side my chipping and putting has been reasonable. Bears best tomorrow.

It's a screwed up game, man, and we've all been there ... often. But always remember, you're not inside some bowling alley! Glad you made it out to Coyote. BB was a fave of mine for a very long time. I can't believe it's been years since my last visit. Enjoy yourself!!

    Thanks Ken

Last summer's early struggles adjusting to new clubs taught me humility, and without putting pressure on my game I was fine by late summer.

But there is still a special pressure playing a pretty course with interesting decisions ... Making it tougher to laugh off when you don't have the game to make any decision correct. But the expectations are low for the bear's best round, so I will do my best to just enjoy the sweet suffering.

I'm 56. I am what I am. I throw in a stunningly low round every blue moon, but unless I get less fat, more flexible and at least moderately inclined toward practice, I'm going to continue to play Jekyll/Hyde 18s, where some modicum of talent and athletic ability can at times push through having the mental makeup of a 3 year old on a sugar rush tearing through Disneyland.

    Shots, friends, scenery. Good stuff.

Nevyn, just do take care to plan around Vegas fall overseed. Only place worth much that doesn't overseed is Paiute.
You may just play great today at BB. Like Ken, it's been a while since I've been up there but you should be able to swing away pretty well.
And it's golf after all, every round is a new adventure.
Best looking pro shop employee I have ever seen was out there. I am sure she found some millionaire a long time ago though.
She was so natural and good looking and personable. Rare combo.
BB are replica holes and I can attest to their remarkable duplication.
    Hope it all goes-went well.

101 at BB. But this time as much about the wind as my play. I got off the tee way better but then blew up on approach shots, sometimes due to wind. The greens were not bad considering the aeration and sanding, in fact once used to it they made chipping easier. But gauging speed on them was a nightmare. Fewer big blowup holes but only 3 lonely pars.

    Had fun anyway.

I just posted some Desert Pines photos in my trip report. If you want to see the whole Flickr album of 54 photos, here's a link:

Overall it was just okay. Very middle of the road, so probably a one-time play for me unless I move to Vegas at some point. Just too many better options there, but I'm glad I played it once. The billboards looming overhead are definitely unfortunate, but otherwise I felt it did a pretty good job of isolating itself from the surrounding city, considering how small a parcel of land on which it sits. And I really enjoyed the view of Downtown and the Stratosphere from the elevated 17th tee. Conditions were good overall, too!

You get out of position over there and you're fucked.

I remember when that place opened. It was out there. Mass grading for the McMansions but no finish work had been done yet. That was part of our Club Corp double -- Canyon Gate and BBLV.

Update: Sounds like yesterday the Wynn Board voted to okay the lagoon project, and now they're officially saying construction will begin late this year/early next.

Stock went up too. Better ROI for that much land I guess.
