    Hey All,
I'm heading to Vegas in mid December. I plan to gamble, drink and eat,,,, and I have a few decisions to make.

You know how we sometimes make reservations and plans months in advance and then we think " well I could change this or that" .!
I will be spending 5 nights at The Fremont. It is a basic hotel, but it is center stage for visiting all the other casinos downtown. The room is comped.
I then have 4 nights at Golden Nugget comped and a food credit.
I'm thinking and debating cancelling the Nugget stay and booking Treasure Island instead. I'll get to spend some time on the strip and I want to play BJ at Treasure Island anyway as they have great rules. In December, TI will cost me a few hundred where Nugget is comped, but a few hundred shouldn't interfere with my having fun.
When I was married we mostly stayed at the Mirage, but now as a widower I've been staying downtown.

Would you give up comped room and food at Nugget to move to the Treasure Island. And they may comp me at TI on the backend, who knows..?
    thanks,
    Hugo.

I would stay at the TI, since you will already be staying 5 days at the Fremont.

I would too. Probably not that much difference regarding comps in those two properties I would think? Should be relatively easy to get (backend) comped at TI.

Yup... Actually, why not ditch the Fremont, stay at the GN on your comp and then stay at TI?

I'm a big downtown fan, but also realistic. If you're a person used to the Strip, than GN would probably be a better fit. Food comp is nice at Fremont, but being alone, how much will you eat?

How much will TI cost you and is that important to your budget?

Thanks for the input. Three nights at TI with tax is $243.....Sun, Mon, Tues.. If I add Saturday as my 1st day it is $398 total... They have a come on special where you pay $12 more per night but don't have to pay the resort fees if you don't want to.....The above rates are without the resort fee... They call it their TITV rates.

I like the closeness of downtown, but also want the variety of the strip a little too. I'm not a fancy type guy, I'm more like Ralph Cramden or Doug Heffernun only taller....I like to laugh.

Something in my gut just tells me also not to stay at the Golden nugget. Don't know why....Hey, we all piss money away all the time, don't we.? So for $400 I can spend four nights at the TI and have access to TI-Mirage-Wynn- and that area.....
Being 6'10" I can draw a crowd and usually that allows me to make friends very quickly with the other guests. I can go to the Wynn and hobnob with all the rich folks and tell my stupid jokes and have a good time.
So for $400 extra bucks I get both worlds, downtown and strip.....Has anyone here been to TI and how did you like it.?. I heard that they have Charmin toilet paper in their bathrooms. CET and MGM have crummy toilet paper...
That Charmin Ultra is AWESOME stuff......You can even make a suit out of it. And when the suit gets dirty...... no dry cleaning--- just flush down the toilet....

The world is getting even crazier people,,,,, so please hug the ones you love and stay safe..

I'd do the downtown/TI split since it isn't an either or decision. For a trip that long you'll have a good selection of dining options.

I'm leaning this way too...... Talk about dining options.....!!

I've lost a lot of weight this year and part of my motivation and reward is to eat to my hearts content on my Vegas Trip....I'll probably gain 100 lbs. but that will be mostly water retention from excess sodium. At 6'10" I can eat. When I was married we'd go to fancier restaurants, but single now I'm not choosey.

I will try BURGR at Planet Hollywood. I'll also see if there are any food eating contests around Vegas during my stay. When I was young I won a beer drinking contest and $250... Also came in 3rd in a spaghetti eating contest,, only $50 win....

Hopefully, the hotels will be decorated for Christmas and maybe there will be Christmas themed musical shows in mid December...

Burgr is one of my favs. I go there at least once every trip. I love the hog burger and the uber cheese burger.

If you like Motown, Human Nature is a great show. I know they do a Christmas version as well. Don't forget to stop by the Bellagio atrium. I think they have one if the nicest Christmas displays.
