Going to a family function this weekend in Phoenix, the event is held at fort mcdowell casino/resort. Anything of note for this place? From what I can gather it looks like $1k max bets, which is more than enough for us. Probably gambling a bit on Friday night and Sat night.

g, can't help you out. Now if you want to know about the two golf courses affiliated with the resort, give me a shout out. Have fun and good luck.

Not much of a golfer, although I should try to get out a few times. It is kinda like sex, you dont have to be that good at it to enjoy it.

I was just looking for any quirks that may be present at this casino. Some people have mentioned places that have an ante for blackjack, etc. I will go in with the assumption of a standard Native casino. The ones up here in WA have better rules for most main floor games than Vegas. I dont have any high limit room experience.

Besides, this is a trip for a family function, so gambling is just something for the evenings when nothing else is going on. If it sucks, then we will find something else to do.

I don't think any of my Scottsdale peeps are gamblers, but I'll sniff around and if they have any input I'll let you know.

Fort Mcdowell is the oldest casino. It is small usually smokey always been crowded. No high limit room. Video poker pay schedules better than other casinos in the area. Bingo is very big there. There are newer casinos on 101 fairly close.
The resort is close but not connected

There are table games I don't play those, they are possibly black jack

Have not been there for some time however, I remember the casino pretty small and VERY smokey. It was okay.... don't think I would spend more than 1 evening there. I will say.... my husband hit back to back jackpots on a slot machine and that made it enjoyable! :D:D

Smoke is not unexpected, I doubt that it can be much worse than the Seattle area casinos. Casinos seem to be the only place that people can smoke indoors anymore. Some people are nice about it, others have the attitude that I can smoke here, so you can GFY. It doesn't bother me that much, my wife hates it but loves to gamble more so she tolerates it. We just typically shower when we get home before bed.

We are staying at the resort there, so it will be what it will be. From the responses I would guess that it is very similar to our locals. Thanks.

The hotel is nice. It's Radisson-branded.

It sure is a ways out there, and folks not familiar with the valley often miss that. Or like thinking Tempe to Cave Creek is just a quick spin up the road. I've spent a lot of time in the valley over the decades and still often find myself pulling into a golf course lot with the tires smoking.
