Trying to do 12 days on $1000US budget. That's pretty inconceivable to some of the bigger players here, but it is what it is.

I could either sit at home and move wheelbarrow loads of dirt around the back yard, or try to do Vegas on a super tight budget.

I've managed to do some of the planning and I'm getting good value so far. Got a flight on points, and some comps are happening.

So how do you stretch the gambling budget?

I love you Flusher, but 12 days on a 1K gambling budget, not a big fan.

From the room & food expense standpoint you'll be fine. Shouldn't be a problem for you, but for gambling, I don' love it. That's less than $100 / day, and even at the Nickel VP level, that's gonna be tough.

One of the things I would definitely recommend is heading to Laughlin (assuming your budget is going to allow for a rental car). Not only will the trip get you out of the casino's, I think your budget will go a little farther.

Anyway, I applaud you for giving it a try and your willingness to share it with us!

So $1000 gambling? Or $1000 includes food and hookers?

I know, it has me nervous. I'm going to totally regress how I play. I have some ideas but it's going to take discipline.

There is one thing about it though, I feel more relaxed knowing I can't lose $5K again, if I only bring $1K with me.

Thought I'd got a great rate of $22 at the Plaza on a 20% promo. I booked 4 nights and they never disclosed the resort fee. It was buried in the confirmation email and they stated the price as $10, not $15.

    I call bullshit on this.

Unless you tap into a credit line that is.

For approximately $40/nt., you can likely get Downtown Grand on Priceline Express deals. It's the one where they don't tell you which hotel you're booking, but they do a terrible job of disguising Downtown Grand. Last trip I paid $19 for the room +$22 resort fee. Look for 3.5 star hotel downtown, and then they list the same two room categories as DTG (Deluxe & Premier or whatever they call them.)

Sigh... I was thinking that exact thing as I was replying.

Fortunately, I am a paragon of self control...
