I was thinking about my first real trip to Vegas tonight. I had been there as a kid and visited some friends there but my first real trip.

Had a convention out there in 2010 and decided to make a vacation with the wife. All I knew was Bellagio was the nicest place in the city so I called them first.

Got booked in a regular room, no fountain view, but we loved every minute.

Became my go to hotel for a long while.

These days I have no interest in staying there again for various reasons but it's still a special place for me because of that first trip.

Would you ever go back to the first place you stayed?

mine was the original Alladin hotel and Casino. came with several high school classmates in 1988 For a buddies wedding. Great time, and learned Vegas craps(0nly new basic stag party craps) from the over night veteran dealers on my last few hours of the trip. craps degen ever since. It was my only 3 days in the joint, but could care less to go back if it was still alive.

No. First trip was 2000. Stayed at Circus Circus because it was cheap. 5 or 6 guys. Had two rooms. We have stayed at NYNY the last couple of trip but looking for a change to either VP or Wynn. Will always remember the Circus though

    Mirage 2010

We agonized for weeks when deciding where to stay and Mirage ended up being the perfect spot for us to enjoy Vegas the first time.

I've stayed there a couple times since (last was early 2012 I think) and thanks to a nice offer I will be staying there again next month for two days after my four at Palazzo are done.

I like the tower delux rooms and the sports book. Plus the location can't be beat.

Thankfully, I'll never have to return to the first place I stayed - Boardwalk. After that it was NYNY (no thanks), CP (not a chance) and IP (okay, I'll admit I'm oddly nostalgic about that one).

Pretty much like ex-girlfriends: I have a few fond memories, but zero desire to relive them.

Golden Nugget. I have returned. If I somehow get stuck in downandouttown, that's where I want to be.

First place I stayed was the Mirage about six months or so after it opened. At the time is was the most incredible place I had ever seen. (Especially when compared to the Aladdin, the Dunes, the Sands and the Frontier at that time).

I have stayed at many of the Places on the strip over the years and have had different "home" casinos, but every few trips I seem to make it back to the Mirage.

Much like you Shifter, that first trip will always be a special memory and the Mirage a special place.

I have always wondered how people feel who first stayed at the Dunes or the Sands or the like when they were shiny and new and how they must have felt when those hotels went away to make room for the Bellagio and V/P, etc.

Mina's is good but not his best effort within his Vegas repertoire.

My first stay, aside from being a kid, was probably at the Dunes or Bourbon Street. I'd love to revisit the Dunes (I wish one of the new hotel projects would adopt the name and create the "New Dunes") but have no desire to stay at Bourbon Street again if it was still standing.
