The book was pretty good. I was curious if any of you ever had him as a host or ever received a cold call from him. Any good stories?

Nope not ever my host but I think I'm going to get a new one. I'm just not clicking with this young one. I'll check out the book though!

I liked the book a lot -- great read and some fun stories. Obviously I wouldn't be up to the level of him hosting me ... but I'd question someone who appeared to be so into himself and self-promotion, right? I always question people who appear to put themselves first when they're in a service industry.

I saw the tv show he was on profiling him and his clients. Didn't care for the vibe I got. Not really sure what to pin it on but not who I'd want as a host if I played at that level.

the problem with independent hosts like him is unlike regular hosts, they actually do make money based directly on how much you lose.

so they have a vested interest in making sure you gamble as much as possible and lose as much as possible.

they get paid a percentage of your theo and/or your actual loss.

how much depends on the particular deal they've struck with each individual casino.

The reason why some smart people like independent hosts is because they do kickbacks as well...so you can actually get a slightly better deal than what you would get from the casino directly, especially their international deals.
