Is there a way to view TRs where you only see content from the OP? That's what keeps me from reading them, especially the popular ones. Whether on this site or the other site, I have no desire to read all the pages and pages of commentary from people other than the person doing the TR.

That's the difference between live trip reports and trip reports that are recaps. If its a recap, it'll be in the OP or across a few posts. But live ones are going to be scattered and they will have responses from people.

This thought crossed my minds before and I agree. At times it would be nice to see just the posts of the OP.

I see what you're saying.. it'd be nice to be able to only view the OPs posts so that you only read the trip report...that would be a good idea

    My 2 cents......

@grosx2, I can understand what you are saying.
    But.....
I was recently following along on Vegasmeister's TR in Macau. I've never been and didn't have anything to add, but I was interested. After a few posts, Vegasmeister dropped the Beuller, Beuller line. He was just looking for confirmation that there was actually some interest. There were a lot of people following in the same boat as me. No one wants to do a TR and feel like no one is listening.

Then what you're suggesting it that we all do a recap or put our live TR in one post and have the comments come later. But then you'll wind up with recaps that have long run-on paragraphs.

Yeah I totally agree that it's a good thing to comment on someone's TR that you are enjoying. The author took the time to share their trip with everyone, so it's important to let them know that you are following along and appreciative of their efforts.

But some of the more popular TRs, like Nate or BeeeJay, get so many replies that it becomes a chore to read them. That's one reason why I love Royal Flushers TRs, the way I can read entry after entry with no filler (in addition to him being hilarious).

When I saw Rycelovers post in this thread (#246) and how he mentioned that migrating a TR to this board would chop off all posts except the OP's, I wondered if there was a filter that would allow you to read threads in a similar manner.

At the end of the day it's really a minor issue, and I think BS's suggestion of increasing posts per page could be an improvement in being able to just keep scrolling and looking for the next post from the TR author.

I'm not very tech savvy, certainly not when it comes to Web design, but I was thinking along the lines of a filter for each thread, where you can select "only show posts by..." and you would select or type in the names of whichever member(s) you wanted. Not sure how feasible this would be, or if it is at all....

I'm going to see if I can find something so you can filter a thread and view the OP's posts only.

it's a good idea and useful for catching up on a live TR.

I'm not suggesting anything lol.. but it would be a nice feature where, say you follow along live, and then you want to read the trip report again, and you can show only the OP's post. It might not be easy to implement, if its even possible, but its a good idea. I enjoy following along the trip reports, but there are some i read through more than once, and it'd be cool to have a slimmed down version.
