I'm writing one of those "fantasy 18" pieces, building a composite course out of great holes from various courses. They need to allow some form of general public access, so no Nanea, Malibu. We've lost Makena and Prince, so a few of my faves will need to be replaced. The main four islands are in play.

What do you like and why?

    Thanks.

Shit, you always do this to me! You know I can't remember golf holes!! I know you hit us up for this a couple years ago? I know the old Lighthouse hole at Kauai Lagoons (since re-routed). The Mauna Kea over water par 3. Hapuna has a couple good holes. Prince course I know is one of your faves, lol. Mauna Lani?? I have to take better notes next time!! I have golfed almost everywhere around the islands except Molokai, and the super exclusive courses. Wailea has some good holes on the courses down there. Plantation of course has a couple nice ones as well. Oh well, I am rambling without giving any concrete info.

I love this topic, as I love da' islands. Nothing like golf in the trades.
I will give it some thought and will not include non-public access. Does Hualalai count? It's a Shadow Creek type ultra-exclusive yet still public access track? More public by a bit IMHO.
And VegasBJ, start with islands and courses, then maybe some holes will come to mind?
    Remind me tomorrow Ken.

17th at Hualalai. Par 3 on the water. Can just stand on the tee forever and enjoy the ocean and volcanic rock view to the left, behind you and in front of you. Not the most challenging par 3, but sometimes difficult to concentrate when the whales start jumping in your backswing. And if the flag is tucked left with the prevailing left to right wind, it can be very difficult.

Thanks. Pretty. But with Mauna Kea #3 and Mauna Lani South #15 in the 'hood, that's some stiff competition. I love watching the Grumps Tour event from Hualalai.

OK, I will include some obvious, too hard to ignore holes and just try and include one or two lessor known-regarded perhaps.
    Oahu
    T-Bay: #7, short strategic 4; #11 dogleg 4; #18 kind of similar to Cascata's #18 second 2 shots.
    Kalalau #18 long tough 4.
    Maui
Wailea Gold #15 another tough par 5.
    Emerald #3 well bunkered 3.
Plantation #5 up the mountain 5; then over the hill and through the windmill off the sideboard #6 4; #17 where you line your tee shot up on whales breaching 4
    Lanai
Challenge, now called just Manele Golf Course? #12 Gate's 3
Experience (when it reopens?) depending on how they route it, they've switched it a bunch of times, #12 tough 5. #17 is a bit of a hokey 4. Jack got an 8 on it the first time he played it. Now he's re-doing the Norman design if I am not mistaken. Good.
    Kauai
Now called Hukuola? Old Kiele #5 over the rainforest canopy 3; #14 over ocean 3; #16 down to the lighthouse 4. (love it or hate it)
    Poipu Bay #16 4
Makai, according to everyone I know, #7 3. I'll play it in August.
    Big Island
    Mauna Kea #'s 3 and 11 3's;
Makalei #18 waaaay down the hill like now private Makena (North) #14 5's
Hualalai #7 from highest point on the course down and over the lava 5; #12 Riviera 6-like 3; #17 3
