Does anyone know why Ellis Island prohibits anyone under 21 to the BBQ

Friends were turned away from Ellis last January because they had a couple underage kids with them. I didn't believe it was true but I see the BBQ menu says no one under the age of 21.

I can see if they were in the Casino.. But underage kids can still walk through the casino's to get to the restaurants..

Unless they have implemented a new policy this is not true. Been there many, many times with kids - they all love the Root Beer.

It is clearly on their BBQ menu on their website.. I am really surprised. What I don't know is if that applies to all restaurants inside.

Well, if they went to the trouble of defining the policy on the bbq menu, one would think if it is not on other menus then it would not apply.

    Response from Ellis Island.....

We allow children under 21 in our cafe, but not our barbecue or lounge. Our cafe is open all hours of the day and is where you can order anything from our menu except for the barbecue items (those are exclusive to the bbq restaurant). Hope this clears things up!

    Best,

    Christina

I am still a little confused, maybe it's a beer BBQ sauce?? hmmm..

It's the same policy at Binions BBQ. Beats me as to why. The waitress advised that it's because they serve alcohol. That's clearly not the actual reason.

It's probably cut and dry. They don't want kids in their BBQ restaurant. I would think that's because most adults would rather eat without kids around. The same reason parents don't take kids on date night.

Well that is all true, save for the fact that Ellis Island and Binions BBQ are both dive joints. Kids are allowed in fine dining establishments across the city, where they probably shouldn't be.

Enjoying the flicker of a candle, staring into your partner's eyes, while holding hands and sipping champagne just isn't the same with a screaming kid in the background.

Conversely, shoveling down a rack of ribs and a pitcher of beer could only be impacted by a global nuclear event.

    I'm slightly with you. BUT...

Assuming all BBQ and burgers are the same to you... if you have the choice of having BBQ and chicken at the many restaurants around the city with and without kids... where are you going?

Remember... you're in Vegas and you've probably been drinking quite a bit and don't want to have to give a shit that you're upsetting a group of kids at the next table while you're scarfing down a plate of BBQ.

Personally... I'd probably say without... but I also probably wouldn't get in a cab and wait in line for Ellis Island.
