Just an anecdote from last year, when I took my wife out to meet Gordon Ramsay at Vegas Uncork'd. In the mornings, she'd hit the spa, and I'd hit the blackjack tables. Each morning, I'd have a nice little blackjack run. Doubling my bankroll each time.

My wife would come down and join me after a bit, so I'd get up from BJ to hit the craps tables, which are her favorite. So we're at Aria, and I blow $300 in about two rolls, so I take a break and just watch her. It's a choppy session, but she notices an Asian dude in sunglasses at the opposite end of the table who's playing the Dark Side and rolling up a nice stack of purples and blacks. So she says, hey, I'm going to follow that guy.

Long story short? For the next two hours, she's killing it on the Dark Side. The crew was great at this table and told us the guy at the opposite end was a professional poker player. Turned out it was Joseph Cheong, who was at the WSOP final table back in 2010. They said he'd been there all night. He and my wife were the only two playing Dark Side the entire time ... and she had a killer little roll going at one point, and Cheong started high-fiving her. You should have seen the crowd, bitter at Dark Side players tearing up and being loud about it. I was laughing my ass off.

Fast forward to day two, when the same morning routine happens. Wife goes back to the craps table and starts playing dark side. Along comes Joseph Cheong, who'd been in the poker room all night, sees my wife rolling, and stops and starts hitting another Dark Side streak.

Just a hilarious and profitable little craps run for Mrs. Ocean!

I often gamble after a session of poker to relax. I prefer something easy like craps or blackjack that I can play while getting drunk. It's enjoyable to just decompress after the mental gymnastics going on in my head during a poker game.

I can totally see that. I don't have the patience to play poker. I like BJ and craps because of the instant gratification (by comparison). I like the tension of a long craps roll. But it's not a marathon.
