The Manfriend and I are heading back to Vegas in just a few days because he's being sent there for a work conference and, naturally, we couldn't waste the opportunity to tack on a few days for opulent degeneracy. His conference is being held at The Mirage and so we'll be in a standard Resort room for the first few days (though we're getting in late, so perhaps we'll get bumped up to a better room). When determining what to do for the Sat/Sun/Mon nights thereafter, we searched around but mainly looked at MGM properties because we thought we'd finally start trying to rack up some status on a player's card.

I know, I know. I've been to Vegas enough times that I should have already been doing that, but we never seem to gamble that often and have been at the Trump half the time, so it wasn't until recently that we finally committed to the idea. I should be Sterling with Cosmo when we go back next week, but I think we can easily make MLife Gold during the upcoming trip (from zero-level Sapphire) because we saw that for the Sun/Mon that we were going to be there, Mirage was offering some fantastic rates on their 1-bd Penthouse suites. Booked direct, paid half up front.

When we originally booked, Saturday night wasn't available for the Pent and they wouldn't honor the conference rate for the night (even though the conference info said they had rates for 3 days ahead and 3 days after available for people), but we ended up getting a slightly lower rate for the same Resort room for Saturday through MLife anyway, and booked it. Then, about two weeks ago, I was looking again and saw that they had Pent availability for the Saturday night and immediately booked it (rate was higher, of course, but only double what we would have been paying for their basic Resort so totes worth it). Booked direct, paid the full cost (sans resort fee) up front, called to confirm that it was a back-to-back reservation, the whole works.

Point is, I am a crazy person and have had no less than three nightmares since then that we go to check in for the Penthouse stay, only to be told that they have "had a glitch in the booking software and no longer have that room available" or some such nonsense. With the low rate we booked I'm guessing it's not an insane weekend, but I cannot shake the fear that we are going to get bumped in favor of someone else, especially since Saturday wasn't available before but then became available later. Am I worried over nothing, or should I be researching other (comparable) rooms at other MGM properties so that I'm armed and ready with information to negotiate with if they do, in fact, bump us?

I'd probably go for something a little more natural than chemical, but sound advice nonetheless.

 

You shouldn't worry at all. They'll assign you the same class of room or better.

Many thanks to each of you! I feel like I've read too many horror stories of repeat customers - even people with status not only in tier but sacrificed bankroll - getting bumped in situations where they wouldn't necessarily expect it (comps, major events). Considering we have no status with MLife, I suppose I can't help but feel that the deal might be too good to be true.

In 11 trips I've never been bumped but all the stories have definitely scared me for my upcoming trip, with it being my first time at Caesars.
