What is your opinion on people getting chairs to sit at a normal craps table? I've really only seen this at local casinos in Louisiana. These are not high rollers asking for random things. Just regular people at $5/$10 dice tables. Also the people are necessarily handicapped, difficult to walk, etc as they seem to range in age and physical ability. When I was last at the Cosmo the box man looked at someone like they were nuts when the person asked for a chair. I find it annoying that people pull up chairs to the craps table as it takes up a lot more space assuming the person is normally able bodied and just being lazy. What say you?

I've seen a few people sitting on a chair. Hell, I've done it. Having said that, I've only ever done that when the table was mostly empty and I've had a sore back. Other than that, I'm standing at the craps table up to 8 hours a day. I don't have a problem with people sitting.....it's a hard way to play craps. I'm usually standing on my box, so actually sitting down......... I wouldn't be able to reach anything.

I've had to walk away from a winning table because my arthritic hip just hurt too much.

Having said that, I think everyone having chairs would spoil the "back alley" nature and tradition of the game.

I don't mind it for people like the ancient "uncles" in The Cal or such.

Although I look able bodied, one hour sessions and a bad back I pull up a chair but always courteous of space and other players around me. I have no problems with chairs for the able bodied or not.

And you raise a very valid point. From the outside we can't always tell if someone is fully able to stand for periods of time.

Also how do craps tables and ADA compliance interact? Seems like it'd be very difficult for someone in a wheelchair to play.

At my local place in AC (Bally's), the pit will not allow you to use a chair unless you have a visible physical handicap or gray hair! Meanwhile, at Caesars or Harrahs or Borgata, they couldn't give two shits. Go figure.

I've someone with a motorized scooter at a craps table in Vegas. It was difficult for him, but he stood when the dice came around to him.
