+1. I've been in three tourneys. The first one was terrible. One player from each table advanced. I was in the lead with two rounds left and some guy who wasn't even on my radar, he was in like fourth or fifth place doubled on a 15 vs. 10 and an 18 vs. 2 and ended up advancing. The second tourney I zigged when everyone else zagged, in terms of betting level, and I advanced to the second round where I finished dead last. The last tourney was a nightmare. I finished low man on my table in the first round.

In LV I got the feeling that a lot of those tourney players were locals who really knew the score as far as tournament play is concerned. I'm glad I tried it a few times as it wasn't a huge investment but I'd rather stick to regular BJ where I'm just playing against the house. Tournament BJ is a whole different animal.....

I've played in many BJ tournaments, and there is no one strategy that will work.
To me, it's luck, money management and position. Kinda like real BJ except for the position.

the tournaments are tough, and take a lot of luck. Your position can be card dead, while one other player gets a 21 every other hand. You make your double downs, or you don't. Most of these tourney rounds are like 15 hands long. So, luck really plays as much a part as anything. Also, the position of the puck declaring the betting order for the last few hands makes a big difference as well. If you have to declare first, or before another player you are close in chips with, will also be a disadvantage to you as the other player can make a more informed decision. I actually think the go big or bust out mentality is good as you build a lead that can't be caught at the end. too many of these tourneys are everyone playing small ball and waiting for the last couple of hands to determine a winner.
