V/P has one during MM and I was entered in it but decided to take the promo chips instead ($225).

Should I go back to the tourney in lieu of the chips?

What's the best strategy when playing in a blackjack tourney? Crazy plays like doubling on a 12?

the value of the tourney entirely depends on the payout and how many players?

there's several different strategies and a lot depends on the other players.

the one tourney I did best at I pressed like hell out of the gate and was winning every hand. that forced the other people to press to try to catch up and I backed off. the dealer started pulling 20s and 21s and they all went bust trying to catch me.

the other tourney I did well at, I just bet small and waited. the dealer was winning every hand and the other guys were pressing and pressing and I just waited for them to bust themselves out.

but, yeah, at the end you may do something crazy like doubling on any 2 cards in order to get more money in play if you're way behind.

Because V/P's site still blows I cannot pull up the details. I don't have the mailer any longer but all I can see on there is that it is a $100k tourney.

I'm thinking I want to switch back to this and disregard the promo chips. Just because I've never done one. I'll call Grazie tomorrow and see what the breakdown is for payouts and how many entrants.

I'd imagine everyone would scramble to sit third base to be able to have last look at bets? Or do they rotate around the table so everyone gets a shot to be third base?

They go around the table changing up who bets first. Blackjack tournaments will have a certain # of hands and so it comes down to chip management and waiting to see if the people betting before you are dumb. I played in one where the person to my left would have advanced to the next round but because she had an 11 she doubled when she should have just hit because doubling put her all in while the person that that actually advanced wasn't felted when the dealer made the hand. Pretty much they were not super intelligent in their betting amounts because they had no sense of strategy.

Not sure if anything I wrote makes sense or if just rambling but hopefully it helps you out.

Definitely helps! Thanks. See I wouldn't have considered the non double situation bc I'm so programmed to double on 11.

You got any trips coming up?

I'm actually headed out tomorrow! Hoping I can actually win this time unlike the last couple trips. I think the last trip that I actually won was the one last year in the summer where we played @ the Craps table together without knowing it at the Palazzo. Not the best luck as of late I suppose, but hoping to do better!

Good luck buddy! Looking forward to the TR when you get back. Get back over to Palazzo and see if it warms up again for you.

I found my mailer about the blackjack tourney

It says it is a $100k tourney with $250 re-buys and a wild card drawing

No mention of how many places are paid out

Haha hopefully it does warm up. Did a drop by of Palazzo over New Year's since I was staying at Caesars and they took me for 2k in like 15 mins. Couldn't hit a point or box number to save my life. PSO PSO PSO! Would've made a killing if I was playing the Don't!

Is the offer you are talking about the $100,000 Bracket Madness Blackjack Tournament? "Jump into the mayhem of March during our $100,000 Bracket Madness Blackjack Tournament, March 18-20 and go head-to-head in this elimination-format competition. We're giving you plenty of free throws - $250 re-buys and a Wild Card Drawing" Yup, definitely doesn't give much more details does it.

Ouch! That hurts reading about it so I can only imagine being there. I'd be mad as hell lol

Yeah that's the one. I'm kinda glad I switched off if it and took the promo chips. I'm just gonna put them all on the pass line and hope for a 7/11

Those tourneys sound like a lot of work....I'd sooner have the promo chips, Stick to basic strategy and get hammered ;)
