Staying at the Nugget Sept. 28th for one night before heading to the strip for the rest of my trip. What's the best steak dinner deal downtown (price and value/overall quality of the meal)? Thanks!

The porterhouse prix fixe deal at the Redwood at the Cal and the Spilatro Steak at Oscars at the Plaza have to be the best pure value plays as both are under $30 for complete meals.

The ribeye (steak only) at Andiamo for $50 or $52 or whatever is a far better piece of meat and well worth the price difference in my opinion.

If you're at the GN, Vic and Anthony's is a great steakhouse. No need to leave your home base for steak. It's pricier, but you get what you pay for with steak. Andiamo and Vic and Anthony's are the 2 best downtown, but they're also the most expensive. The value judgement is yours.

Foget the best deal; far and away the best steakhouse downtown and for that matter probably on the strip as well is Vic & Anthonys at the GN.

Great info. I'll have to take a look at those options. What about deals in the lower end price range.. any one place above the rest? I've heard Dupars has a steak/eggs late night special, the Cal a prime rib special and I've been to Ellis island for their cheap steak special (I know not downtown, but it was decent enough for the price). Any advice on the low end steak specials?

The lower end special are coffee shop deals. Go to a steakhouse. On a budget, do the porterhouse special at the Cal. It's been years, but I want to say 24.99 for a salad, potato, porterhouse and cherries jubilee. The atmosphere at Redwood is going to blow away the coffee shops and you're getting Outback pricing.

Just slightly overstated. First of all you are hard pressed to say V&A is "far and away" better than Andiamo.

Secondly, if you are bringing the strip into play, your comment is absolutely ludicrous.

The prime rib at the Market Street Cafe in the California is a great bargain deal. $10 gets you a nice slice of prime rib, salad bar, baked potato, and cherries jubilee. Maganolia's at four Queens is also a great deal, it is also $10 you get a slightly larger piece of prime rib but you don't get a salad bar just a small salad. the salad bar at Market Street is really a good deal. If you want a bargain steak dinner for $12 Tony Roma's has steak and lobster tail with baked potato and veggies from 9pm - 11pm. Now lets be honest it wont be the best piece of meat you ever eat but it isnt terrible at all. I ate it last year on a guys trip and it enjoyed it.

The two other times I went to Vegas I went with my wife and we tried a few of the higher end restaurants (we actually had one of the best steaks we have ever had at the the circus circus steakhouse). This is a guys trip and we aren't looking for anything too fancy so I think either the Cal $24 or the $10-12 prime rib or steak/lobster specials will be right up our alley.. thanks again everyone for the help!

Yeah, I'm sure you have your finger on the pulse of Vegas steakhouses. What would I know about it?

Not sure if they still have it, but 4 Queens used to give out 2 for 1 coupons for new signups at Magnolias. Sign up for a card, head to Magnolias, and 4 guys can eat for $20 plus tip. We did it a few years back on a guys trip just looking for some cheap grub. Like others said, certainly not a fine dining experience or a great steak, but it was a solid prime rib and meal, and it was less than a value meal at McDonalds....
