SO was planning on shutting down the gambling for the year with the new addition set to arrive this fall. My wife got the itch and wanted to make a trip to gamble on the 4th. I am actually burned out of gambling and have not done well the last two trips. We need a change of pace. New Orleans was offering each of us $250 in travel vouchers and $300 in FP each and $100 for dinner. So we were going to effectively have an extra $550 each in FP/Cash just to show up in New Orleans. I told her we could go if we did one day only since we were in Vegas two weeks ago with a loss. She already forgot about the loss. Degenerate gamblers!?!

It was a short flight so we arrive at 4pm. Our flight back home was set to leave at 10am. This was basically a local casino run except we were flying. It would take the same amount of time and we were starting out in the black. The only day that would work is July 2. Problem was that New Orleans was fully booked and we would have to stay 3 blocks away at the Sheraton comped. I'm not a fan of walking 3 blocks in New Orleans with cash so this trip will be a low rolling one. Fortunately, we didn't encounter any problems.

When we get to New Orleans, we figured out why it was so booked. The annual Essence Festival was in town. We certainly did not blend into this festival very well.

. We were the wrong demographic for the weekend. Just roll with the punches.

 

I wasn't going to write a TR but needed something to take my mind off of the disappointment of my favorite team losing Kevin Durant. Been pretty bummed so doing a TR to not think about basketball. Did pretty well. Brought $3k because this was a one night trip with about 4 hours of gambling at most. Ended up giving the $560 in FP and airfare to the wife for her bankroll.

 

After dinner at Besh Steakhouse, we went to gamble. First $700 went into their bank of Top Dollar machines. Lost 7 bills in quick succession. Could not hit anything in all 7 machines. This was going to be a really short trip.

Decided to take $100 into the $25 wheel machine. First spin.

Being that I am staying 3 blocks away, I asked for a check. Louisiana withholds state taxes from their hand pays. Surprisingly the slot attendant told me I could get a check in whatever amount I wanted. I told her that anything above $2k would be a check if that is ok. No problems. I also didn't want to carry that much cash as I was planning on doubling by BR on this short trip.

 

Thanks. It gets better and ends well. The initial plan was to play some hit and run slots and then black chip BJ. Never made it to the tables as this trip was only going to last 6-8 hours tops which included a 2 hour dinner.

 

While waiting for my check, I scoot over and put $200 in the $25 wheel next to it. Last spin. Got cash.

I still had 90 more minutes of gambling before they would let me collect my airfare reimbursement. So I walked around playing very slowly. Wait a minute in between spins or get a drink. Messed around with $5 and $10 Top Dollar machines that are my first 7 bills. Did pretty well. The machines were paying small wins. Took the small wins this time instead of trying for big wins. Win a few hundred and take it to next machine. No bonuses but lots of little wins to keep me playing. Then got this one.

It is definitely getting better ... Love it ... hope my luck is that good in 2 weeks.

 

So after waiting for my 2nd check, I still had about 45 minutes to go before I could collect my airfare money. I walked around slowly playing slots so I wouldn't give anything back. Couldn't get anything playing VP. Tried a variety of slots. Ended up playing lots of Top Dollar since they were paying. Lowest bonus was 35. Most were above that. Recycled a bunch of money.
