Just curious how many of us are currently up or down overall for our lifetime of gambling? Do not take comps into account, just straight lifetime wins and losses.

Are you up on one game and down on another?

Anyone who has been playing in casinos (not counting poker or APs)) for any extended period of time and says they are ahead, well, they are addled to say the least.
Or they have really poor math skills.
I've had great runs, several years ahead. And likewise several behind, but over the long run everyone gets ground down by the HA.

I'm down. In 2015 I posted a modest win, and am up so far in 2016. But overall down.

VP was brutal ever since I started playing more, worse then slots. I've done well at the tables last couple of years but before that it was brutal at black jack.

I think the only way to be up for your life is to win a big jackpot on a slot machine or get on a killer run and keep pressing and pressing.

I am guessing that the majority of people have a stock answer of "I am probably about even lifetime" and they are all lying. I dont keep track of it because I dont want to know the answer, but we have had two years recently with W2g's so I have had to look at our results for the year. Surprisingly the results were not as bad as I had thought. Maybe the years without slot jackpots we lose more.

Between my wife and I we lose a couple of thousand a year. To those who dont gamble, that is huge. To some here that isn't a full bet, but it is our entertainment. My wife doesn't drink, so we dont go to the bar that often. It is funny to me that people who think a weekend bar tab of $100 is normal, but to lose a few thousand a year is crazy. They must not realize that they are spending $5k a year for their entertainment.

I am very confident that I am up lifetime on Let it Ride. I played it a couple of times when it first came out and hit a straight flush for $5k. But I have only played it a handful of times in the last 20 years. I may be up on roulette as well, but I only play it 'hit and run' style with one or two numbers and for a spin only, and have been running way above expectation. The rest I am sure that I am down for my lifetime, but within a reasonable entertainment budget.

I am up a little over 14 thousand with about 4 years of gambling. I keep track. I have only had one loosing trip and it was a low loser (around 700).

Just counting Vegas trip since it is still a number I can sort of keep track of. Two winning trips out of 13. Down probably same ratio on all other gambling.

I'm about the same wife doesn't drink and likes to cook so don't go out to eat or drink much. Lose a couple thousand a year, 2014 & 2015 were
good years up a couple of thousand each year and this year has started out with 2 winning trips. Vegas is a quick entertainment get away weekend
    for us from LA.

From a purely bankroll perspective, I am down lifetime. Not very much. But I don't gamble a ton in terms of absolute dollars.

On balance, however, I think I'm way, way up in terms of fun, friends, and experience because of the good times I've had.

    Down....

But the return value is priceless over the years though. Would I like to be even or up? Sure... But the things I've done and people I've met are worth the loss.

That reminds me... I need a winning trip money wise to fund the next one! Lol
