    Hi,
I saw a post from a different forum site yesterday where a woman found bed bugs in her downtown room when she had checked in. This was in her trip report. She said she informed the hotel and even had a picture of the Bed Bugs. The hotel sent "Security" to investigate and they found no bed bugs.

Do hotels/casinos send their security agents to school to learn how to hunt for bed bugs?. I saw a T.V. show once where people had Bed Bugs and they were itching and scratching all the time. How prevalent are Bed Bugs in Vegas hotels and what can we (as visitors) do to prevent getting a room with the nasty critters?

    Peace,
    Hugo

Las Vegas has something absurd and on the order of 170k hotel rooms. There is an infinitesimally small chance that none of those beds in all of those hotels have bed bugs. So, Las Vegas certainly has bed bugs as do almost all other cities in the US.

The key takeaway should be either don't worry about it or don't stay in a bed that you don't own.

I've been going to Vegas for over 40 years and have never had a bedbug problem. Granted the problem has only resurfaced in the last 10-15 years. My brother on the other hand, got bedbugs twice. Once in NY and once in Philly. They were not dump hotels, either.

I got bit by fleas at The Orleans. There was also a cockroach in that room about the size of a '56 Buick.

Yep, what Breeze said about the steroidal cucarachas at Orleans. I just assumed it was part of the bayou "ambience." Staff was almost unmoved when we called down when that mother crawled out on the bed so my guess is this is a common occurrence at that charmer.

I haven't seen bedbugs anywhere in Vegas but I did get scabies from MGM (2 years ago). Trust me, scabies are a million times worse. Just thinking about it makes me sick. With that being said, I just stayed at MGM this past weekend. From what my doctor told me, scabies are a risk at any hotel that sees a lot of international visitors.

I was told that as far as bed bugs go, you have a greater chance of picking them up in the airport then taking them home from a hotel. I am still paranoid and if it is summer in Phoenix when I get home I leave my luggage outside to "cook" for 3 days when I get home. In the winter, I throw my bags in the bathtub for 3 days (the bed bugs can't crawl up the sides of the tub so they will die in the tub if there are any in my luggage). I haven't come across one yet.

Never herd the term scabies before and after Googling, I don't want to hear it again.

It was a very expensive and traumatizing ordeal. I got rid of all my bedding, beds, couches, and carpet. So gross.

Scabies very common in nursing homes. Norwegian scabies jump from person to person.

When I was reading what you posted in the Zika thread about how there are things way more common to contract than Zika- I thought, "People should be worried about scabies and C. diff"--- I have had both. LOL
