Madison Square Garden execs have announced that they're planning to build a 17,500-seat arena just off the Vegas strip in a partnership between Madison Square Garden Co., Sands Corp., Azoff MSG Entertainment, Michael Rapino's Live Nationand entertainment advisory firm Oak View Group, it was revealed this morning.

Located on Sands Ave. between Manhattan St. and Koval Lane, the new venue is expected to be a whopping 400k square feet, making it the world's largest venue built specifically for music and entertainment. For comparison, L.A.'s recently revitalized Forum is 330k square feet.

Don't be surprised if there are even more announcements like this. Can they make up the market share that they lost(going to lose) to MGM?

first i know about all thew new venues oppenings for the next few years. live nation still has the mgm grand ,and mandelay bay and have been booking shows at the t mobile arena even though its an aeg arena , they just rent it , losing to mgm has nothing to with it. it 2 promoters competing with each other the casinos have nothing to do with it. live nation just oppend the foundry and there competing with them selfs becuase the own the house of blues.

all the venues are now competing, the palms wich books in house just had a live nation show, cosmo wich was only booking alternative new young acts is booking anything and they joint is scaling its room down too 2k from 4k too compete against livenation, it has nothing to do with the casino its about filling the rooms and leverage.

in the long run ticket prices will be higher becuase of it
