Got back from a fun one night quickie from Harrah's AC. Went for the beerfest, which was a great time, but had a near miss this morning that will change how I play 3 card forever.

3 card is one of the few table games my wife will play with me. She is not a very knowledgeable gambler. She insists on always playing the 6 card bonus at CET properties. I rarely do, because while I play most bonus options on other games, I see the 6 card bonus as a straight donation. I do play the pair plus. She constantly says I should play the 6 card and I refuse. Often pointing it out to others at our table if I miss out on 3 of a kind or other small bonuses.

For those that don't know, at CET properties, if your hand along with the dealer's hand make a 6 card royal flush - in diamonds, you win a million bucks. It's less for other suits as well as 5 card combinations of straights, flushes and so on.

We were playing this morning with friends (who also play the 6 card bonus) and again, I was not playing the bonus. I was dealt K of D, Q of H and 9 of D. Ho hum, weak but playable hand. The dealer turns A of D, J of D and 10 of D. It took me a few seconds at first to realize what almost happened. We had a really sharp, fun dealer who quickly pointed it out. I'm still exhaling a sigh of relief. Whewww, that would have been god awful, if it hit and I wasn't playing it. She even joked, we'd be getting a divorce. Needless to say, starting the very next hand and forever forward I will be ponying up the extra five bucks.

Believe it or not it hits more often than you think. I remember last year at PH it hit while I was there and one of the pit boss's said it was the 4th time that year they paid it off.

I've had the pleasure of a small hit courtesy of that very bet!

I was a Jack of clubs in January away from the $100,000. I had 9, 10, Q, K, A of clubs. Would have changed my life! One day...

I was in O'Sheas when someone hit the Million last July.

I consider it a "peace of mind" tax. Sure I know I'm going to probably lose that $5 but I consider it the cost of playing. The lifelong torture of hitting it without playing the bonus would be too painful.

I believe it, that's probably why most CET props in Vegas have decreased it to 100k for the top payout. When why I was there in March, CP was the only place where I still saw signs for 1M. Paris and Ballys signs all said 100k from what I saw.

I wish they would just get rid of the damn bet so I don't have to worry about not hitting a big hand (I never play it either).
