    Hi All,
Probably most of you know this, but for the few who may not know SWA offers a good deal for Tall and/or Big people.

I found this out a few years back and I'm using it on my next trip as well....
Instead of buying one seat for yourself, you buy two seats for yourself. When you return from your trip, you call them with your confirmation code# and they reimburse you the entire amount for the second seat...
Also when you check in they give you a pre-boarding pass so you get the best seat choices.

I'm very tall so I sit next to the window and stretch my legs in front of the middle seat.
SWA calls it their "Person of Size" policy...
When you are stuck on a plane for 4 or 5 hours, this really helps.

Hugo. That's great information as I am 6'6" 245. Will look at Southwest first for now on for any airline transportation I may need in the future. Thanks

You are very welcome. I'm 6'10" and now 266 (shooting for 235) so I feel your plight. People that are not tall don't realize how difficult it can be sometimes. But even normal size people find the airline seats and width and leg room way too small..

As I posted last month: On an inter-island hop on Hawaiian Airlines, I was floored by the length of the seatbelts. Now the seats themselves weren't any different but the seatbelt were grande long. I was laughing about it with a friend from the islands and he said: You ain't big by islands standards. lol

I'm big, but not in your size category. On that other board I used to frequent, there was always conflicting information about this policy. Some said you just had to call, others said it would only be a free extra seat if the flight wasn't sold out. If it was sold out, you had to pay for that extra seat, which honestly makes sense to me. Why would an airline give away a seat they could sell? But never did read a definitive answer.

I am tall and very big. Next week when we are in Vegas I think that I may go get my free food at the Heart Attack Grill. When we fly SWA is my last choice for several reasons. But once when we flew as a family I just get the seats for the four of us and two members of my family get smooshed. Once it was just my wife and I and I bought the extra seat and didn't bother with trying to get it refunded. I think that the policy is that if the flight is full they do not refund it.

As a big person I always try to be as courteous as possible and get the aisle seat so that I can spill over into the aisle. I always tell the flight attendants to make sure that if I fall asleep to please wake me up by ramming the beverage cart into either my knee or shoulder. They usually oblige.

Wow! Being 6'5" 250 (on my way to (230) with a very bad back I always pre board. 99% of the time grab the very first row window seat. That seems to be fine for my 50 minute flt to Vegas. But if I could purchase two seats and be reimbursed for the second seat that would help the back for sure. When I'm not able to get that front row window I'm screwed! Southwest packs customers in like sardines and there is NO room for me at all. I just read their requirements. What I'm leery of is the party when they say the armrest is what they go by. Doesn't say anything about stature or length of your body. Sounds like it odds your girth only? Sure I could do the "if the glove don't fit you must acquit" game as it's tight for me and I can spread out more if need be but don't feel good about that. it also said doesn't matter of the flight is full or over booked you still get two seats and your money back. you are also provided a sign to put on your extra seat.

The policy was altered 3 years ago and the extra seat is now refunded even if the flight is full.... And it is great to be able to preboard...
