It was solid. But I didn't think the 1k price tag for a poker book was good market value. The advice they shared could have used examples that could be applied to other subjects and reached a wider market. Coaching meta games is useful for any level, teaches critical thinking.
Unfortunate they over valued their knowledge. Poker is a zero sum game and the mentality players develop often focus on about being "me first" and taking from others. I read the book but didn't pay the 1k price tag.
Knowledge is great but executing it is another story.

That is referred to as wisdom.
    Wisdom = knowledge + experience.

I absolutely agree with all of the above. I think the people involved VASTLY overvalued the monetary value of their knowledge, as well as the interest the market they were aiming for had in such a product.

I find that most poker players (myself included) often overvalue their knowledge and think that they are much better players than they actually are. This is magnified a TON in the case of online pros who basically felt that they had found a money printing machine and did not think about the future or much of anything at all beyond HUD numbers and making SupernovaElite on PokerStars. They approached online poker like a video game and i think they played strictly for the money, and not for any sort of love of the game whatsoever (no judgement, just an observation). As we know, the tactics these guys used dont translate well to live poker, and when the money machine shut down there werent alot of them coming over to play live games (granted, there were some who tried and didnt make it).

Application and execution of things i read and watch are definitely things i personally struggle with. This is the very reason i dont play blackjack (yet). I know enough to know that i am not playing properly, and this bothers me enough that i would rather not play until i am able to DO what other people have proven i should do. I can talk about card counting and basic strategy, but i cant do it yet.

This is a pretty good read on the subject. Although I have no idea how legit this is.

That's quite a tale... and mostly believable.
Hole-carding is, in my experience, far more rare than she suggests in her story, as not many dealers make the mistake of letting it happen... although I will admit that I've never gone looking for them either....and she clearly did.

I once ran into a 3-card dealer that inadvertently showed the corner of his bottom card when he went to place them in his 'box'. This didn't provide me with a ton of help, but every now & then, I'd spot a king or ace, so I was able to fold my queen-high.

With blackjack shoe-game dealers, what I encounter far-more often is the dealer who 'reacts' to their hole card when they have a ten showing & checked the hole.
These are golden situations, when you find them... the type of behavior you'll notice is like this:
You have a 3-4, so you hit, of course. You draw a 7 and the dealer starts to move on to the next player, or if you're in 3rd, makes a motion toward their hole card to flip up.
They catch themselves (usually), but not before you notice the body language. I've tested this kind of dealer behavior many times...and I've learned to trust it. It's a definite 'tell'.
Confirm it once...then trust it. Stand with your 14.

This woman was actually a member of James Grossjean's team (according to some people that would know, on another forum). She's legit.

If you ever have a free afternoon in Vegas, there is a copy of Beyond Counting, and I believe one of its sequel (Beyond Counting: Exhibit CAA) as well, kept in the archives at the UNLV Center for Gaming Research. You won't be able to take it out of the library, but you can read it while the library is open. For the address and hours, see this:

. If you'd like to buy it secondhand, you can always go to eBay.

is currently listed for just $2,999 :) .

I don't know about $3k but it's worth at least the price of an Uber to get over there...for example did you know the Big 6 wheel can be beaten? Yep, it can. Turns out that under the right circumstances, most casino games can be beaten, and with much higher edges and lower detectability than card counting would give you.

I have looked extensively and have never seen it for download anywhere. If you can find it again, please post or PM a torrent or magnet link.

Nope....couldn't find it & I went back as far as 2014... so, I'm guessing the thread (or my post) got deleted... and, since it contained a link to a torrent file, I suspect that's the case.
When I get home today, I'll see if I can find the torrent file again... It did not have a file name that corresponded with "Grossjean' or 'Beyond Counting'... I think I found it searching torrent file descriptions/comments.
In any event, I'll try again when I get home.
