I spent this past weekend in Atlantic City with some friends and family for my Bday. I had two rooms at Caesars and booked a third room at the Borgata. Truth be told, I double booked the room but gave to a non-gambling friend to use. Because my homebase for the weekend was at Caesars, I focused most of my play there and at Bally's and played only minimally at the Borgata.

I asked my Borgata host for my ADT figures:

Time 2:20 BLACKJACK $427 avg bet; $3,000 buy in; $600 win; 546 theo.

Then I asked him if that play was enough to cover the room for two nights, and what the comp value of the room was.

His response surprised me: Blackjack – rating of 5 to 7 hours per day on weekends; rooms expense on a weekend was approx. $728 before tax for the weekend.

I responded: "Wow, I didn't know that there's an expectation of 7-9 hours of play per day! Or that the comp value of the rooms are so high. I'll keep that in mind for the future."

My thoughts are that the 7-9 hours of play per day is high. Isn't it usually 4 hours of play? Also, the comp value of a room at the Borgata of $364 per night for a standard room is around the same if I booked directly through the Borgata online.

Me thinks that he's not being truthful with me with those figures and is indirectly trying to tell me that I was overcomped and I need to play more.

    Thoughts?

Well, if you're putting about $25k on the table on a half percent game over the course of an hour, that's about $250 theo. That's probably about what they're calculating ($234/hour is your theo above).

If they gave you 40% back, that would be about $150 for them and then 5-6 hours should cover $750.

$750 sounds really steep to me but maybe that's because they have so many players that can achieve it that they demand that rate for a comped night on the weekend. Borgata is packed on the weekends and tons of big players there so it wouldn't surprise me at all.

They only have so many rooms available to comp players... so they probably up the level of required play to qualify for one because more people qualify than they have rooms.
