True. This would hinder many criminal enterprises dependent on cash. But many people like to have a cash stash at home or in a safe deposit box just in case of catastrophe or technology breakdowns. And some people with lower incomes prefer cash to having a bank account that charges them service fees.

Plus, money talks. And those Benjamins speak loud in any situation.

maybe you just don't trust the banks? after what happened in Greece how could you blame them? honestly, there's a lot of reasons to feel that way and even though I use banks for my day to day activities, I keep cash and metals in safe places as well just in case.

that was the argument with getting rid of $500+ bills.

but the real truth is they want a cashless society so they can have full control over everything. if everything is bits in their system, they can do whatever they want and you're powerless to stop it.

cash is scary in the same way precious metals are scary. they can't control them.

Looks like Disneyland money. If they got rid of $100's, I would switch to 20's or travellers checks for Vegas I think.. Can't be seen with a $50 in a casino.

The only truly unregulated market. It realistically can't even be shut down.

Shifter is absolutely right. cashless society makes it easy for the gov't to know exactly how much you have, exactly what you spend it on and exactly where you are. It's really scary stuff. I'm sorry Mr. Dinner. The computer is saying you've had too much chicken this week. Card denied.

I do not believe our government wants a cashless society, but big banks/Visa may. Our government is scared shitless of Internet crime, bank transfers, and hacks. You know how we hate trolls on our message boards, this is what the feds do not want to worry about in the finacial world.

Our government really only wants us all to carry a cell phone with our location tracking enabled.

I pretty much consider them one and the same.

what is "the government" anyway? just a collection of people running the show.

and the decision makers have been bought and paid for by the banks for many decades.

I read an article where they said gamblers don't want this to happen because then they will all be able to be tracked. Is this true or was the guy exaggerating to get some fame?

a lot of people use cash only so as not to be tracked.

making the bills smaller will just make that lifestyle more difficult.

but which gamblers? big gamblers already fall under the 10k CTR rule. you can't move large amounts of cash in or out without someone knowing.

small gamblers could just use smaller bills. so not sure exactly how that would affect certain people?
