Sorry team, between work and home life I just couldn't quite get this wrapped up so let's try now. So it is New Years Day and we had eaten at Guy Fieri's if memory serves. It was already very late in the day by the time we got rolling. Maybe 2:00ish? So after lunch we strolled around for a bit but really didn't do anything of note. After lunch/bfast it was nap time and then time to get ready for the evenings festivities.

It may surprise some of you to know that it takes JR a bit longer to get ready than myself. However, When I am ready she is quite okay with me going down and gambling. Dumb like a fox, I get ready pretty darn quickly in Vegas. So it was down to Tag for a few pre-game drinks of Fireball and screwdrivers. Service was great as always.

Fast forwarding a bit because I don't remember what happened, it was party time.

The gig was pretty fun and easy peasy. The line up to get in was big but moved quickly. Vortex is not a bad gig for a party. Again, we had the opportunity to go to other fancier gigs at other hotels but this one seemed about right for us. For those who haven't been there, it has a big ballroom in one section and then another outside area on the roof of what I have to think is the 5th-6th floor. Was open bar from 10:30-1 and we did our best to make them regret that.
They offered various finger foods. I may have eaten an excessive amount of the deep fried macaroni an cheese. For those that have never had it, you need to make it a priority to do so. It was nothing fancy in that regard but a fancy sit down dinner is not my idea of New Years and a big meal and too much food makes me tired, lazy, and absorbs too much booze. Although I have posted some pics already in the moment, here are a few more that perhaps I missed. If we have a duplicate or two my apologies.

You meet the most interesting, coolest cats in Vegas. Conversation started outside the washrooms as we waited for our female companions. I thought the suit was bad ass.

 

One of the fun parts of this party with the 80's theme was the stack of old school video games they lines up in one area. I went old school and played Space Invaders and Donkey Kong. Other favourites included Missle Command, Centipede, and Joust. All classics that I used to play with the quarters I found at the bottom of my mother's purse.
